									                Graduation Project—3 Page Reflection Paper Outline

This is only a guide to help you write your reflection paper. You may follow this format
or use the prompts to organize it your own way.

Title and your name

Paragraph 1 – “What I wanted to be when I grew up…”
       - Prior to high school, what did you want to be when you grew up? Why?
       - What did you plan to do when you graduated from high school? Be specific
          with the type of job or schooling you thought you wanted then.
       - What steps did you take prior to high school to pursue these ideas?

Paragraph 2 – “This is My Life” --Items on Resume
       - What classes and electives did you take during your high school career that
          were helpful in determining your career goal? Why did you choose these
          courses? Did they help? What did you learn?
       - Are you involved in any activities, clubs, or sports in school? Are you
          involved with any activities in the community? (Scouts, Clubs, Sports, Youth
          Groups or other Church Groups, Volunteering.)
       - Have you held a job?
       - Have any of these optional activities helped shape your career path?
       - How have these activities helped to prepare you for life after high school?
       - Do you have any references? How did they come to know you as a person,
          student, or employee?

Paragraph 3 – “I’m growing…” 9th grade –
       - What did you learn from completing the Graduation Project or Career
          Cruising activities?
       - Which jobs were you best suited for from the interest inventories? Did you
          agree or disagree and why?
       - As a freshman, what postsecondary schools were you considering? Why did
          you pick those schools?
       - Where did you volunteer? What did you do? What are your thoughts from this
          volunteer experience? What did you learn? Would you pursue a career in this
          area?

Paragraph 4 – “… and learning…” 10th grade
       - Who did you interview? What were their jobs? What did you learn? Did you
          like the job? What surprised you about the job? Discuss all 3 interviews.
       - Where did you volunteer? What did you do? What are your thoughts from this
          volunteer experience? What did you learn? Would you pursue a career in this
          area?
       - Did you add/ delete or change anything on your Graduation Project or Career
          Cruising exploration tasks? What caused you to change your mind? What did
           you learn as a 10th grader that you didn’t know as a 9th grader? Were you still
           interested in the same career path and schools?
       -   Did you have any new career related experiences that influenced you?

Paragraph 5 – “and deciding.”--11th grade
       - Who and where did you job shadow? What did you do? What are your
          thoughts from this shadowing experience? What did you learn? What did you
          like about this day in the field? What did you not like? Would you pursue a
          career in this area? Why or why not?
       - What steps did you take pursue your post-secondary goals? Did you go to
          CTC? Did you take the SAT, the ACT, or the ASVAB? Have you toured any
          postsecondary schools? Have you applied to any?
       - Did you add/ delete or change anything on your Career Cruising exploration
          tasks? What caused you to change your mind? What did you learn as an 11th
          grader that you didn’t know as a 10th grader? Were you still interested in the
          same career path and schools?

Paragraph 6 – Senior Year -- “Now Here I am, a Young Adult.”
       - How do you feel about preparing for your senior year interview?
       - What do you think about the career exploration in the High School?
       - How do you feel about your portfolio?
       - What was easy about the graduation project process?
       - What was difficult about the gradation project process?
       - If you could redo something, what would you do differently?
       - How have your thoughts about your career changed from freshman year to
          now?
       - What do you feel prepared to do?
       - What do you still feel you need to accomplish in order to pursue your chosen
          school or career path? What further steps do you need to take before
          graduation?
