Welcome Page Welcome
Welcome to the Updated Edition of the GPAC catalog. GPAC – GPS Precision Accessories Company. Inside you will find various replacement Cables and Accessories for nearly ALL brands of Survey Grade GPS equipment. The cables offered herein, are not Original Equipment Manufacture (OEM) or cheap imported replacement cables, but they are designed to be equal or better than the original factory cable. The components that make up a complete cable assembly are chosen for their superior electrical and mechanical properties. In most cases, cost of the material is many times more expensive then the original OEM specification, yet in the majority of cases, the prices are equal to or less than OEM. Durability, Reliability, and Superior Performance are features that you can count on.

Connector Styles
The connectors shown below are the most common types found on GPS equipment. They are installed on coaxial cable and serve to connect the receiving antenna to the GPS receiver or to connect the base amplifier to the UHF antenna (RTK Base). If none of these examples resemble your particular connector, email a photo and note any impressed codes or names on the connector to gpac@ameritech.net. Heavy Duty Straight “N” connector (plug). This is a typical connector on older GPS Units and found on the Geodetic style antennas. The connector I supply is double soldered and extremely durable. (FYI) The connector was invented by Paul Neill of Bell Labs. Push on/ Pull off quick connect “N” connector (plug). Straight “TNC” connector (plug). This is the most common connector employed on modern GPS units now. (FYI) The “TNC” was invented by Paul Neill of Bell labs and Carl Concelman of the Amphenol Company and was dubbed the TNC (Threaded Neill-Concelman) “TNC” female (jack).
“TNC” right angle connector (plug)
Push on/ Pull off quick connect “TNC” connector (plug). “BNC” connector. Found on Pacific Crest Radios and others. (FYI) Invented by Paul Neill of Bell Labs and Carl Concelman of Amphenol and dubbed the BNC (Bayonet Neill-Concelman) “SMB” connector. Thales Navigation uses this connector on the Promark II GPS receiver. I carry this connector in Right Angle (shown) and Straight styles. SMB (Sub-Miniature version B)
LEMO FFA.1E connector found mainly on Trimble Equipment.

What Connector do I need?
3.5 Meter Antenna Cables
All Antenna Cables with very few exceptions, are constructed using RG142B/U coaxial cable. This cable has been chosen for its strength, durability, and electrical properties over standard RG58/U coax used to construct your original cables. RG142B/U is a double shielded Teflon cable. The following chart compares the features of both cables:
Property Center conductor size & material. RG142B/U 18 AWG copper coated, silver plated steel. TFE Teflon FEP - Florinated ethelene-proplene RG58/U 20 AWG stranded copper. Polyethylene Advantage RG142B/U is larger, stronger, and more conductive. Teflon resists deformation better than Polethylene, less chance of internal shorting. FEP has a higher resistance to abrasion and heat then PVC RG142B/U is a clear winner here. 63% STRONGER signal levels in any given length.
Standard Antenna Cables
Insulation
Jacket
PVC - Polyvinyl Chloride 1000mHz 21.5 dB per 100 feet
Attenuation (loss of signal) 1000mHz 13.5 dB per 100 feet in decibels
Although RG142B/U is about 6 times more expensive than RG58/U, the higher cost is a small price to pay for its advantages. Anyone who has worked with GPS equipment knows how marginal the signal levels can be at times. As a rule, cabling will be the weakest link in the system. So, it makes sense to pick the most reliable and highest efficient product for your cabling choice, doesn’t it? All cables are assembled using a combination of soldering or crimping and reinforcement with adhesive lined polyolefin heat shrink tube. All stock cables are 3.5 meters long. This is an ideal length when a 2 meter pole or tripod is employed.
“N” to “N” X 3.5 meters long. It features heavy duty “N” connectors. Can be used with Ashtech Z-12 (and others with “N” jacks) and the Geodetic Whopper Antenna or the standard Ashtech Marine Antenna (700700 series) N3.5N
$52.00
“N” to “TNC” X 3.5 meters long. Features a heavy duty “N” connector and Standard “TNC” straight connector. Connects the older Marine or Geodetic Antennas to the newer receivers equipped with a “TNC” female jack. Or, will connect the older Z-12 (and others with “N” jacks) to the newer Antennas that employ “TNC” connectors. N3.5TNC

YA3406WN
$138.00
Larsen 5 element UHF Yagi. Used as a RTK Base antenna, this beam will concentrate the signal in the direction that the beam is pointed. There are two advantages of a beam antenna over a whip antenna, and they are: the effective signal strength of a beam is almost double that of a whip antenna and the signal is concentrated in one direction. The beam coverage is approximately 30° left and right of the pointed direction, or, in other words, if you point the antenna East, the strongest coverage will be from N60°E to S60°E, the coverage due North, West, and South will be a little less than a standard whip antenna and from N0°E to N60°E and S0°E to S60°E, the coverage will be better than the standard whip antenna. The antenna features fully welded construction, wide bandwidth, and high gain. The antenna includes mounting hardware. The US version YA3450WN is 36 1/4” long and the Canadian version YA3406WN is 42 1/4” long. Both versions have a type “N” female connector installed and the weight is approximately 2 pounds.
Larsen 1/4 wave NMOQW450 rover antenna. Features a stainless steel whip and a chrome-plated base. Fits directly on the Pacific Crest PDL rover. Can be installed on the NMO Adapter. Canadian customers, please order NMOQW406, which matches the Canadian Frequency allotment. NMOQW450
