College Students at Wisconsin Lutheran Help Make a Difference
Help Share the Love and Compassion of Christ by helping some of our Lutheran College Students at Wisconsin Lutheran reach out to the children they are serving on a weekly basis in Milwaukee. Stephen Hetzner and Jon Fricke are organizing the project again this year through the school they attend, Wisconsin Lutheran in Milwaukee. Last year the college students, who work weekly with inner city Milwaukee children, noticed their dire need for socks, boots, scarves, jackets, gloves and mittens. The students organized a "sock drive" for the needed items and because of your generous donations it was a huge success. This year the need still exists, and in fact is greater. The student employees of the WLC Federal Work Study Community Service program and the WLC International Diversity Club are organizing this year's drive to meet the need. They will be distributing the items through the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee. They are asking for donations of:

Help Teachers at Luther South
this Thanksgiving
As some of you may have heard on the news this past week [Watch the CBS 2 Chicago Report], the gas was shut off at Luther High School in Chicago and consequently the health department closed the school building. This resulted because of owing $70,000 on their gas bill. Consequently, the students had field trips that week. The good news is that an agreement was worked out with the gas company and the students have returned to their classrooms.
The Not So Good News
In order for the gas to be turned on, the Teachers were NOT paid... Read More here... We would like to ask you to consider a special gift to help the teachers this Thanksgiving. If you are moved to do so, you can contribute Dollar Per Dollar to the Luther South Teacher's Thanksgiving Fund.
Thanks to your donations, the first Thanksgiving check for $9,000 has been presented to Robin Doeden of CLEF and Reed Sanders of the NID for Thanksgiving for the Teachers at Luther South. As additional donations are received they will be sent on to CLEF for the teachers.
Thank you to ALL who shared the Compassion of Christ with these workers in God's Kingdom.

Help Us Get Ruth Home for Christmas
Ruth Rittmueller's home, behind which flows the Salt Creek, was ruined by this year's September flooding. The 82-year-old works two jobs and financially supports her son, who is mentally-ill; this has made it especially difficult for her to rebound from the effects of the flood. Thanks to the service of LCC volunteers Wayne Beckman, Helmut Mueller, Jason Weber, Ann Boyle, Jerry Snick, Carl Burger, Don Busche and Tammy Rak, Ruth Rittmueller is one week closer to returning to her condo. These volunteers worked this past weekend and days before Thanksgiving to prime and paint the apartment. Carl Burger and Jerry Snick started completely remodeling the bathroom, which had just been gutted out two weekends before. On Wednesday, Don Busche and Ruth picked out the kitchen cabinets, doors, and flooring - the next items to be installed. Our next work day will be Saturday, Dec.6th, starting at 8:30AM. If you can come in and help for part of the day or the whole day, click here to fill out a volunteer form. Be sure to make note of your skills and skill level. Using volunteer labor and paying only for the building supplies, we estimate that we will need to raise $9,000 to finish remodeling. Some matching funds are avaiable from the Northwest Cook County Chapter of Thrivent. We would like to finish work on her home so that she can move back for Christmas. To donate, click here.
All Proceeds go to Katrina Relief
We have always loved entertaining. A large part has been cooking with family and friends. There is nothing better than everyone crowded in the kitchen creating a meal. After visiting Biloxi and New Orleans for Lutheran Church Charities we became very aware of the continued devastation a year and a half after Katrina hit. What we saw weighed heavy on our hearts. We knew we wanted do something that would tell the people of the area they are not forgotten. So we did what we knew best: enlisted our family, friends and extended Curves family for support and recipes. They all came through. Here is your chance to help and enjoy recipes from the heart! Request by Pastor David Mumm, Concordia Lutheran Church, Machesney Park, IL
LCC has received another update from Concordia, Machesney Park, about Jeremy's medical condition. His family recently took him to Chicago for more specialized medical attention. Doctors have put him on a ketogenic diet (a high fat, adequate protein, low carbohydrate diet) which is used to treat difficult-to-control epilepsy in children. So far this has proven effective in reducing the number and severity of Jeremy's seizures - praise God! The family is still making frequent trips to hospitals, however, and the need for monetary and other support continues. Jeremy received a high chair from his church, but has already outgrown it. His family would

In-Sight into the Book of Revelation Of all the Books of the Bible, none has fired the Western imagination more than this mysterious one John's Apocalypse. The Book of Revelation however is a revelation of Jesus Christ · The totality of Jesus Christ in the totality of his mission and ministry, his death and resurrection, his living lordship, and his coming again. · It is an explanation and proclamation of the gospel. · It is instruction in Christian discipleship. · It is a portrayal of the church. Readers of the Book of Revelation are either mesmerized or mystified by it. The mesmerized come up with such startling interpretations that the mystified often conclude that sober- minded Christians should leave the book well alone. From the very beginning, cranks and crackpots have attempted to use The Book of Revelation to advocate some new twist on the Chicken Little Doctrine: The Sky 1S Falling! But APOCALYPSIS JESU CHRISTUS teaches instead that Christians will overcome all opposition through the work of Jesus Christ. The Gospel of John (30 weeks) Often viewed as a stand apart Gospel, this study will explore the brilliance of the author who presents us with the Life and Ministry of Jesus with such great insight and understanding. Discover who the Beloved Disciple is. Cover-To-Cover Through The Bible. (30 Weeks Year One and 30 Weeks Year Two) Enjoy a Spiritual Journey through each book of the Bible - in the order in which they fall in the Historical narrative. See how one needs to see the BIG picture in order to begin to wrestle with the Mind, Method, Manner and Ministry of our Lord! See the radical nature of this Messiah, Jesus of Galilee.

Family Facing Foreclosure
Request from Pastor Charles Mueller, Jr., Trinity Lutheran Church, Roselle, Illinois
A Trinity school family of four is in desperate need. They are in the process of losing their home and have no money for a security deposit to find rental housing. The wife is on disability and the father is recently employed. But, months of unemployment have put them behind in house payments to the point of losing their home. Family of 5 in Need of Help
Request from Pastor Doug Swanson, St. John Lutheran Church, Darien, IL
I've recently been approached by a family in our congregation in need of financial help. The husband made a career change to become a Realtor just before the housing market crashed and since that time has only been able to pick up part time work which doesn't include benefits. His wife was managing a retail sporting goods store but it has since been closed leaving her unemployed. Health issues including fibromyalgia, chronic pain, depression, and 2 herniated disks in her neck have prevented her from working. Her unemployment compensation and the minimal amount he is able to bring home is only enough to cover their mortgage and the $1100/month they pay for Cobra insurance. Should they laps in insurance she would be labeled un-insurable. Each month they fall further behind in utilities and their ability to put food on the table. Their fear is that eventually they might lose their house. Please help this family through this desperate time. > Click Here to Donate <
Deaf Woman with Cancer in Need of Car
Request from Pastor John Fritz, Hope Lutheran Church, Aurora, Illinois
A deaf visitor to our congregation has recently been diagnosed with cancer. We are trying to work with her and help her afford some of her medication. She also needs rides to the grocery store, Laundromat, oncologist, and for chemo treatments. We are working on that, as well. If you would have a vehicle to help meet her transportation needs, it would be a real blessing for her and would allow her to help drive her sister to her sister's oncologist for her cancer treatment.

that backed up their sewer during the heavy rains that caused all the recent floods. They are looking for help with their security deposit for a new apartment. The deposit will be $1,375. Both husband and wife are working. The reason they need help with the deposit is because in the three years I have been here in Country Club Hills, they have had two house fires, a baby, her mother died, and now this flood. Because of the house fire they made sure that their renters insurance was paid up and good, but because it was a backed up sewer their insurance won't cover it. The owner of the house they were renting is doing nothing to fix the house or the problem. So they have to move again. Any assistance for this family will be greatly appreciated.

Lutheran Church in Ethiopia Needs Financial Assistance as They Minister to Families
Request from Pastor Tilahun Mendedo of Faith Lutheran Church in Mobile, Alabama
Pastor Mendedo of Faith Lutheran Church in Mobile, Alabama has recently contacted LCC concerning his heart for the Lutheran church in Ethiopia. The Ethiopian Evangelical Mekane Yesus Church (EECMY) in Addis Ababa, the country's capital, has been growing at a rate of 5-10% every year for the past 30 years. Though this evangelistic success story is cause for praise, the church seeks continued support as the social and political climate of Ethiopia continues to spiral downward. Ethiopian families have been battered by the stresses of severe poverty, a history of political unrest, and a devastatingly high HIV/AIDS rate. As of yet, the church has not been able to support a ministry specifically targeted to help families endure these hardships. EECMY's vision is to use counseling and education to meet the needs of their member families, addressing the social issues these families face on a day-to-day basis.

Grote Benefit set for November 29
On Saturday, November 29, friends and family of the Grote family will be holding an evening of music, food and fun to assist this Lombard family with extraordinary expenses associated with the battle against cancer. The Grote family benefit will take place from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m. at the Lombard Community Building, located at 433 E. St. Charles Road in Lombard. Donna Grote was diagnosed with soft tissue sarcoma (a rare form of cancer) in January of 2006. She is the wife and mother of four children. The type of cancer and location of her tumors have presented an extremely challenging case for medical professionals. Donna is currently undergoing treatment at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. Char Roberts, Debra Banks and Donna Heuser Co Chairmen for the evening hope to make this charitable event a resounding success by getting area residents to donate items, gift certificates or cash that can be used for a raffle and silent auction which will be held as part of the event. Randy Mc Callister of Maxxx Soundz DJ will be providing the music for the evening. Dinner will be served buffet style and a cash bar will be available. The cost for the benefit is $25 per individual. Tickets are available from Susie Manna (call 630664-3725 or email v.manna327@comcast.net ) and Char Roberts (call 630-567-3985 or email 6293985rob@comcast.net ).
