Policy 2510 Update
• The teaching of foreign languages in grades 5 and 6 is encouraged. A foreign language course, in the same foreign language, must be offered for students in grade 7 and grade 8. • The Foreign Language Content Standards, Objectives (CSOs) are designed to provide guidance for:
▫ the development of foreign language curricula ▫ the selection of instructional materials ▫ the evaluation of students’ learning and professional development opportunities. ▫ While teachers are responsible for developing curriculum maps and for selecting specific content and learning activities, this document is intended to guide local curriculum development.
