FRESHMAN ADMISSION GUIDELINES Admission is both competitive and selective. The University considers high school performance (rigor of course work, academic GPA, grade trends and class rank), ACT or SAT scores, nonacademic qualifications (extracurricular activities, leadership, service and talent) personal statements and recommendations. Academic preparation is the primary consideration for admission, but numbers alone do not determine admissibility. Some programs including Architecture, Engineering, and Nursing, are more selective and require stronger academic preparation. All potentially qualified students are encouraged to apply. WAITING LIST OR POSTPONED ADMISSION Applicants not admitted directly to the major in the College of Engineering and Applied Science will be considered for admission to pre-engineering, pre-computer science or the CEAS bridge program. When 7 th or 8th semester academic work is requested, there is a desire to see an upward trend in academic performance to increase the chances of being admitted
IMPORTANT NOTICE Admission requirements are subject to yearly change. The requirements listed in this section are for students entering in the Fall of 2008. They may change for students entering in the Fall of 2009.
WISCONSIN PRIVATE SCHOOLS ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
Private colleges tend to examine the qualifications of each applicant on an individual basis. The following are just basic guidelines; meeting them does not guarantee admission. ALVERNO COLLEGE At least 17 academic units of study in high school including English, history, social studies, math, natural science and foreign languages; satisfactory scores on the ACT and Alverno’s communication placement assessment prior to registration. BELOIT COLLEGE Recommended college preparatory program: English (4), foreign language (2), mathematics (3), laboratory science (3), history or social science (3). Applicants planning to major in the natural sciences should complete four years of high school math and be prepared to begin calculus during their first year of college. CARDINAL STRITCH 2.0 GPA, 20 ACT. Students who do not meet the admission requirements may be admitted to the Conditional Acceptance Program. CARROLL COLLEGE Successful preparatory work in high school. Also considered: class rank, cumulative GPA, standardized test scores, personal recommendations, ACT scores. CARTHAGE COLLEGE Miminum of 16 academic units; students must submit official transcripts. In some cases, a personal interview is required. CONCORDIA COLLEGE 2.5 GPA, 18 ACT. EDGEWOOD COLLEGE Students must meet two out of three: 1. Rank in top 50% of high school class 2. Cumulative GPA of 2.5 3. Composite score of 18 on ACT LAKELAND COLLEGE Strongly recommends students complete 4 years of English, 3+ years of math, 3+ years of science, 2+ years of a foreign language, and other college prep academic units. Required admission tests: ACT or SAT LAWRENCE UNIVERSITY For admission to the college of liberal arts and sciences, a completed Common Application, high school transcripts, and application fee are required. For admission to the conservatory of music, all of the above, plus an audition and supplemental music forms are required. Lawrence does not require the ACT or SAT for admission or scholarship; students may submit them if they wish. MARIAN COLLEGE Minimum 18 ACT composite or 860 SAT, top 50 percent of class rank, minimum 2.0 grade point average (two of three must be met). MARQUETTE UNIVERSITY 16 academic units: English, social studies, math, natural sciences, foreign language. Required tests: ACT or SAT. MILWAUKEE INSTITUTE OF ART AND DESIGN High school diploma or equivalent; recommend 3.0 cumulative average in art; portfolio evaluation, essay, interview. NORTHLAND COLLEGE Students are evaluated on the basis of high school curriculum, cumulative high school GPA, ACT/SAT scores, writing samples, and recommendations from secondary school officials and teachers.
RIPON COLLEGE Required tests: ACT or SAT. ST. NORBERT COLLEGE College preparatory program. Recommended high school course work: English (4), math (3-4), foreign languages (2), science (3), history (2), social studies (2), ACT or SAT. SILVER LAKE COLLEGE Minimum 18 ACT composite and 2.5 high school GPA. Recommended units of high school coursework include English (4), history and social studies (2), math (3), science (3). VITERBO COLLEGE ACT or SAT. Rank in the top 50% College prep high school courses – minimum of 16 unites. Consideration given to students who do not meet above requirements through test and interview process. WISCONSIN LUTHERAN Minimum GPA of 2.7. Minimum ACT of 21 or SAT of 1000, ranked in top 50 percent of high school class.
