							     Expository Stories for QRI Testing in the fall 2007 and spring 2008
       (note: instead of narrative, we’re going to test for non-fiction reading)

Directions: Make sure you do all parts of the test

1. Do Part I-the Concept questions before reading--because we are doing non-
fiction and prior knowledge is very important to comprehension with non-fiction.

2. Do the fluency-oral reading-wpm (remember-you don’t have to count self
corrections, but you should note them.)

3. Do the Retelling-use checks and/or make notes about what they know.

4. Do the comprehension questions with look-backs (may skim or reread)
