Genesis Energy (Genesis) is a New Zealand based state owned enterprise engaged in the generation, trading and retailing of energy with a diverse electricity generation portfolio. It owns and operates eight generation facilities with a total generation capacity of 1,996 megawatts (MW). It is also engaged in the gas exploration and production in New Zealand. It is one of the largest energy retailers in New Zealand. Genesis uses coal, wind power, hydro power, oil and gas for the generation of electricity.
