Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) is a Government organization engaged in power generation, transmission and distribution. The company produces and supplies electricity to the customers of the state of Punjab. The company is a statutory body formed in 1959 under the Electricity Supply Act 1948. In its present form, it came into existence with effect from 1st May, 1967. PSEB owns and operates power stations based on various technologies including thermal and hydro. The company has a total installed capacity of 6,841.366 MW. PSEB also constructs and maintains its transmission and distribution system for supplying electricity to the various categories of consumers in the state.
