Church at the Mission’s Teaching Ministries
Church at the Mission’s Teaching Ministries, now in their fourth year, are designed to equip you for serving God in the city. Our four free programs: Foundations, Journey Through the Bible, LayMinistry Training and Worship Arts, help to prepare you in your service to God and your community.
oundations:
A Christian Spiritual Formation Program
Foundations is a series of courses ranging from an introduction to the Christian faith to discovering how you can make a real difference in your community. It is designed for those investigating faith, for new Christians and for seasoned Christ-followers who want a solid refresher in the basics of the faith. The program is designed both as a complete package for those who register for the entire Foundations program, and as individual courses for those wanting to sample the courses but not commit to the entire program. Foundations classes include small-group discussions, teaching times and take-home work to deepen understanding of what the Christian faith is and how to live as a Christian. This open-ended structure of Foundations allows for people to join in throughout the year. The Foundations program is free, but there are small materials fees for most courses.
ourney t rough the Bible:
bIn-depth Studies of the Holy Scriptures
Journey Through the Bible is a series of in-depth Bible courses designed to equip you with a solid understanding of the books of the Bible. The courses look at the major themes of the biblical books and how they relate to the Bible as a whole and to God’s overall plan of salvation and redemption. Every year we focus on different books of the Bible, from both the Old and New Testaments. Become Equipped to Serve Your Community You are created and redeemed by God for a purpose. Part of that purpose is to serve the body of Christ (the Church) and the community around you. As you serve others you need to keep receiving from God so that He “may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being”. Ephesians 3:16 Lay Ministry Training courses are designed to encourage and support you as you serve God and other people. Lay Ministry Training courses are aimed at graduates of the Foundations program, but all classes are open to everyone.
orship Arts:
Experience Creativity in the Sacred Arts
The highest purpose and value of the arts is to glorify and honour our Creator. The Worship Arts Program is designed to introduce you to creative arts that can be used in personal devotions and public worship. Through studying and applying the sacred arts and new technologies in worship, our communal experience of worship is enhanced and energized as we worship God together.
