					Welcome to Magic Tree House Researchers!
Your camper will spend this week finding the answers to a “Magic Tree House” riddle. Each day will
be filled with fun and excitement as your camper learns how to conduct research to find answers to
this cosmological conundrum.

**Your camper should bring the following to camp EVERY DAY:
         o Small snack to eat during break
         o Sunscreen and insect repellant to apply while playing outside during break

MONDAY
     What your camper should bring to camp today:
        o A light sweater or jacket – the star theater can get chilly!

     Some    of the ideas and activities your camper will explore today include:
        o     Studying the stars we see at night
        o     Exploring the physics of our solar system’s only star—the Sun!
        o     Brainstorming topics for their research guide

     What you should expect your camper to bring home today:
        o A Morehead Planetarium Summer Camps T-shirt!

TUESDAY
     Some of the ideas and activities your camper will explore today include:
        o Blasting off into the solar system to exploring distant planets
        o Beginning the first phase of research: choosing a topic

     What you should expect your camper to bring home today:
        o A hand-held scale model of the solar system

WEDNESDAY
     Some of the ideas and activities your camper will explore today include:
        o Exploring the craters and marea on Earth’s Moon, and learning how they are formed
        o Solving some real problems that face modern astronauts and space scientists

     What you should expect your camper to bring home today:
        o A “moon base”
THURSDAY
   Some of the ideas and activities your camper will explore today include:
      o Learning about the moon’s environment and then constructing a space glove that can withstand
         the “elements” of space
      o Tasting “space-safe” food
      o Publishing their findings in an MPSC guide book

   What you should expect your camper to bring home today:
      o A “space glove”

FRIDAY
   What your camper should bring to camp today:
      o Light sweater or jacket for the star theatre

   Some of the ideas and activities your camper will explore today include:
      o Imagining why our Earth is so special a place
      o Creating ways to save our planet

   What you should expect your camper to bring home today:
      o Their very own copy of the “Camp Research Guide”

 At the end of the week, you will receive an email reminding you to complete our new
   online MPSC Summer Camp evaluation. Please take a few minutes to fill out the
        evaluation form with your child—your feedback is very important to us!
