  CITY OF COMMERCE CAMP PROGRAM AT LAKE ARROWHEAD
                PROMOTIONAL/OPEN COMPETITIVE RECRUITMENT

                       Part-time; Non-Civil Service; At-Will Employment
**Benefits include: Sick Leave, Vacation Leave, and Tuition Reimbursement. Part-time employees are
 eligible to apply for Medical Insurance, which the City pays 25% and the employee pays 75% of the
                                          monthly premium.
  The City of Commerce is now accepting applications for the City Camp Program located at Lake Arrowhead. Interviews
                        for these positions will be held at Camp Commerce in Lake Arrowhead.

 CAMP KITCHEN AIDE: (Hourly Rate $8.98 - $10.93)
 The Position: Under direction of the Camp Supervisor and Cook, performs a variety of kitchen and
 maintenance duties including, but not limited to: cleaning of floors in dining hall, kitchen and storeroom,
 windows in dining hall areas, stoves and refrigerators; assist with serving food; washes eating and cooking
 utensils; performs related work as required.
 Experience: No Experience is required.
 Education: Completion of eighth grade is required.
 Special Requirements: Must be able to obtain a Food Handlers Permit. Must be at least 18 years of age.

 CAMP MAINTENANCE AIDE: (Hourly Rate $9.66 - $11.79)
 The Position: Under general supervision of the Camp Supervisor and Camp Maintenance Specialist,
 performs a variety of maintenance duties including, but not limited to: cleaning of cabins, lodge and grounds
 to include floors, windows, toilet fixtures, sinks, trash receptacles, patios, raking grounds and picking up
 trash; and does related duties as required.
 Education: Graduation from high school or G.E.D. is required.
 Special Requirements: Must be at least 18 years of age.

 ASSISTANT CAMP COOK: (Hourly Rate $12.38 - $15.10)
 The Position: Under direction of the Camp Supervisor and Cook, performs a variety of kitchen duties
 including, but not limited to: the preparation of food, general cleaning maintaining major appliances, stoves,
 ovens, etc., and does related work as required.
 Experience: Culinary experience is desired.
 Education: Graduation from high school or G.E.D. is required.
 Special Requirements: Possession of or ability to obtain a California Class C Driver’s License and
 insurability with the City’s insurance carrier. Must be able to obtain a Food Handler’s Permit. Must be at
 least 18 years of age. DMV Printout: The applicant selected for this position will be asked to provide
 his/her DMV Driving Record Printout, to the Human Resources Department. The amount paid for the
 printout will be reimbursed by the City upon appointment to the position.

 CAMP COUNSELOR: (Hourly Rate: $12.38- $15.10)
 The Position: Under supervision, performs tasks relating to the welfare of children and adults in a camp
 experience; will instruct children and adults in basic arts and crafts; will conduct outdoor camp activities;
 does related work as required.
 Experience: Experience in working with children 8 to 12 years old in a camp or recreation setting is
 desired, but not required.
 Education: Graduation from high school or G.E.D. is required.
 Special requirement: Applicant must possess a current California Class C driver’s license at time of
 application and must obtain a Class B license within 90 days of appointment; insurability with the City’s
 insurance carrier. Must be at least 18 years of age. DMV Printout: The applicant selected for this
 position will be asked to provide his/her DMV Driving Record Printout, to the Human Resources
 Department. The amount paid for the printout will be reimbursed by the City upon appointment to the
 position.
   The following information applies to all of the positions listed on reverse side:


TUBERCULOSIS CLEARANCE: A Tuberculosis clearance, indicating freedom from a communicable
disease, is required for initial and continuing employment.
SELECTION PROCESS: Following a review of all applications, the best qualified candidates may be invited
to an oral board interview, weighted 100%, to be held at Camp Commerce in Lake Arrowhead, California. An
eligibility list will be established in accordance with the City’s Promotional/Open Competitive Recruitment
Policy from which the final selection may be made.

FILING DEADLINE: The Human Resources Department must receive Applications by 5:00 p.m., Friday,
May 5, 2006. Postmarks and faxed applications are not acceptable.

CIVIL DEFENSE: All City employees are required to perform assigned Civil Defense duties in the event of an
emergency or a disaster.
