Those who attend will receive a certificate from Fanshawe College recognizing completion of the seminars Effective Marketing and Branding for Nonprofits (Monday, September 29) Learn how to identify and promote the people and the successes of your organization to improve your volunteer, donor and media relations programs. Understand how to build your brand and develop consistent messaging and marketing initiatives for your organization, within your budget. Finance 101 for Nonprofits (Monday October 27) Learn the basics of financial statements, cash flow, and budgeting. Also learn how to develop and implement a budget and current business plan. Find out how effective financial planning and reporting can strengthen your organization. Legal Aspects of Nonprofits (Saturday, November 22) This seminar will cover legal topics of relevance to nonprofits. It will focus on an Employment Law Update which will include the Employment Standards Act and Common Law; the current judicial climate; and human rights issues. Learn about documentation with respect to performance appraisals, paper versus electronically stored information, and the implications of e-discovery. The Road to Effective Volunteer Management (Monday, January 12) Learn the principles of volunteer management including recruitment, screening, training, evaluation and recognition. Basic marketing principles will be explained to aid in the understanding of volunteer recruitment. Relevant management, leadership, and problem-solving topics will also be explored. Finding the Hidden Funding Markets (Saturday February 21) This seminar is geared towards fundraising professionals in small and medium-sized nonprofit organizations. Learn how to research current and potential donors in order to maximize fundraising opportunities, using low and/or no-cost local and web resources. Organizing and Executing Successful Capital Campaigns (Saturday February 21) An introduction to the tools necessary to execute a successful capital campaign. Campaign readiness, volunteer management, gift solicitation and campaign evaluation methods will be introduced along with prospect research and cultivation. Shared Services & Social Enterprise in Nonprofits (Monday, March 2) Explore how the shared services model can be applied to the nonprofit sector and how the concept of social enterprise can be employed to the benefit of nonprofits. Learn why these strategies can be helpful when organizations are faced with scarce resources and the need for greater accountability.
