• The 10 areas defined on the chart represent a functional framework for organizing the work of
ATIS and for marketing it externally. They are not actual committees or individuals with
administrative or oversight responsibilities.
• The remaining layers of the chart identify where the existing ATIS committees fall in the functional
structure.
• PEG (Protection Engineers Group) is not included on this chart as it meets only once annually for
an information exchange meeting, rather than for developing technical standards.
• It is intended that the structure presented on this chart will be dynamic and will grow and change
over time as work flows through ATIS.
ITU-T / ATIS Workshop “Next Generation Technology and
ITU-T Standardization“
Las Vegas, 19-20 March 2006
IPTV Interoperability Forum (IIF)
Mission Statement:
The IIF enables the interoperability,
interconnection, and implementation of
IPTV systems/services by developing ATIS
standards and facilitating related technical
activities. This forum places an emphasis
on North American and ATIS Member
Company needs in coordination with other
regional and international standards
development organizations.

IPTV Interoperability Forum (IIF)
The scope of the work in the IIF includes the
following areas:
o Coordinate standards activities that relate to IPTV
technologies. This includes providing a liaison function
between the various Standards Development Organizations
(SDOs) and Industry Forums that are each working on
important components of IPTV, but may not have visibility
to other aspects of the application.
o Develop interoperability agreements, technical reports, or
other types of ATIS standards where appropriate.
o Provide a venue for interoperability activities.
o Provide a venue for the assessment of IPTV issues in the
context of NGN directions
ITU-T / ATIS Workshop “Next Generation Technology and
ITU-T Standardization“
Las Vegas, 19-20 March 2006
IIF Goals
Long-Term: to fully specify all appropriate interfaces in
the IPTV architecture, and to identify and specify
metrics that are appropriate to measure the quality of
IPTV service across those interfaces.
Near-Term: Work from Top-Down:
1. Develop Architecture Requirements and Reference Model
2. Address Interoperability issues in Content Security (DRM)
3. Identify QoS Measurement Points, Metrics and Methods
o Organized in Task Forces aligned with near-term goals
o Issue Oriented – can take on new issues
