									Advanced Section 106 Seminar: Seattle, WA
The Section 106 Advanced Seminar will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2010
Important note: Classes are filled on a first come/first served basis of registrations received with payment at
the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP). You must be confirmed by the ACHP to be admitted to
class.
Registration: For individuals paying by credit card, on-line registration is available. For individuals paying by
check or SF 182, download the registration form and fax to 202-606-5073.

Course Location and Accommodations: The course is being held at The Hotel Monaco Seattle, 1101
Fourth Avenue, Seattle, WA 98101. http://www.monaco-seattle.com/. Located in the heart of downtown
Seattle, the Monaco is rated one of the Top 100 hotels in the world by Travel & Leisure.

A limited block of rooms has been secured for attendees for Wednesday, July 14 for the government rate of
$158 for a single occupancy plus applicable state and local tax (15.6%). It is recommended that you make
your reservations early, as the rooms are likely to sell out. Reservations must be made by Friday, June
25. Reservations made after that date will be accepted on a space available basis at whatever rate is available
at the time of the reservation. To reserve your room, call Central Reservations at 800-945-2240 and state
that you are with the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation. If our room block is sold out, you can find
additional hotels at online hotel booking Websites. Searching for hotels in Seattle zip code 98101is
recommended.

Traveling to Seattle: Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA-TAC), http://www.portseattle.org/seatac/, is
11 miles from the hotel. Traveling time is approximately 30 minutes.

          Taxi, town car, or public transportation options are all available from the airport to the hotel. For
          taxi or town car services, exit baggage claim on the upper level skybridge to 'Taxi Pick Up' area.
          For public transportation, exit on the lower level outside of baggage claim turning right to the end of
          the terminal.
          Taxi fare to the hotel is approximately $35 to $40.
          The Sound Transit Link Light Rail goes from the airport to several downtown locations for around $2.50 one

          way. The closest stop for the Hotel Monaco is the University Street Station at 3 and Seneca. (1.5 blocks
          away).

Local Information: Located near the Pike Place Market and Seattle's historic Pioneer Square in the vibrant
heart of downtown Seattle. Settled in 1852 and burned to the ground in 1889, Seattle’s historic Pioneer Square
District features 88 acres of beautifully restored architectural masterpieces, including buildings designed in the
Second Renaissance-Revival, Beaux-Arts Classical, and Richardsonian-Romanesque styles... one of the
largest collections of unique architecture in the United States.
Registration: Registration will be located outside the conference room on Thursday at 8:00 a.m. Plan to stop
by the registration desk to check in and to pick up your course notebook and other course materials.

Schedule: The Advanced 106 Seminar runs from 8:30 am to approximately 4:30 pm. Short breaks will be
given in the morning and afternoon with a longer break for lunch.

Meals: Light morning fare and an afternoon snack are provided. The cost of this food is included in your
registration fee. All other meals are on your own.

Attire for Training Course: Attire for the course is casual. Also, please keep in mind that hotel meeting rooms
tend to be cool, so plan to bring a sweater or jacket.

Cancellations: Registrants who cancel at least 14 days prior to the start of the course will receive a full refund
minus a 15% processing fee. No refunds will be given for cancellations made fewer than 14 days before the
start of the course; however, substitutions may be made at no cost up until three days before the course
begins. All cancellations must be made in writing.
