  eHarmony

eHarmony
  and
  LOVE

Over
   the
   last
   ten
   years
   eHarmony
   has
   focused
   on
   one
   thing:
   helping
   people
   around

the
  world
  find
  deep,
  meaningful
  love.

How
  do
  we
  do
  it?
  By
  bringing
  people
  together
  based
  on
  the
  things
  that
  really
  matter,

like
  who
  they
  are
  on
  the
  inside.

  We
  take
  the
  time
  to
  really
  get
  to
  know
  our
  users
  with

our
   in-‐depth
   questionnaire,
   so
   that
   we
   can
   match
   them
   with
   other
   singles
   that
   are
   truly

compatible.

One
   of
   the
   ways
   we
   help
   people
   find
   their
   life-‐long
   partner
   is
   by
   studying
   real-‐life

couples.
   Through
   research
   and
   observational
   studies
   we
   have
   identified
   that
   couples

whose
   values,
   beliefs,
   attitudes
   and
   personalities
   are
   similar
   are
   the
   most
   likely
   to

remain
  happy
  in
  their
  relationships.

What
  does
  compatibility
  mean?

Compatibility
  means
  sharing
  similar
  traits
  such
  as
  personality,
  energy
  levels,
  outlook
  on

life,
   values,
   sense
   of
   humor
   and
   passions
   among
   other
   things.
   It
   doesn’t
   mean
   two

people
  are
  identical,
  and
  it’s
  much
  more
  than
  sharing
  hobbies,
  or
  liking
  the
  same
  sport.

We’ve
  invested
  millions
  into
  research
  and
  observational
  studies,
  and
  identified
  that
  the

couples
   who
   were
   happiest
   in
   their
   relationships
   are
   compatible

  REVEAL
  “THE
  TRUTH
  ABOUT
  LOVE”

Your
   Goal:
   Create
   a
   60-‐second
   documentary
   that
   reveals
   the
   dimensions
   of
   love.
   This

could
  be
  a
  moment
  of
  connectedness,
  a
  moment
  of
  magic,
  a
  piece
  of
  wisdom
  given
  by
  a

couple
  or
  couples,
  a
  Key
  Dimension
  of
  Compatibility,
  an
  insight
  from
  a
  relationship
  that

has
  stood
  the
  test
  of
  time,
  or
  from
  one
  just
  starting
  out.

Wherever
   your
   creativity
   takes
   you,
   be
   sure
   to
   make
   it
   real,
   relevant
   and
   honest.
   You

need
  to
  capture
  in
  60
  seconds
  something
  which
  leaves
  no
  doubt
  that
  this
  couple
  is
  real.

Intended
  Use:
  Films
  will
  be
  used
  by
  eHarmony
  to
  illustrate
  compatibility
  and
  to

  If
  a

  we
  will
  do
  our
  best
  to
  share
  it
  with
  the

The
  rules:

• You
  have
  60
  seconds
  to
  capture
  your
  truth
  about
  love.

• You
   should
   submit
   a
   30
   second
   and
   60
   second
   cut,
   but
   we
   will
   be
   judging
   the
   60-‐
        second
  films.

• Your
  film
  must
  be

  in
  documentary
  style
  –
  this
  is
  not
  an

• Your
  film
  must
  feature
  a
  real-‐life
  couple

• There
  must

• If
  the
  couple
  in
  the
  film
  were
  matched
  by
  eHarmony
  you
  can

• Do

   We
   want
   you
   to
   deliver
   a
   fresh,
   innovative

        film
  on
  love

• There
  should

  in
  this
  competition.

What
  makes
  a
  good
  love
  story?

Couples
   in
   love
   tend
   to
   automatically
   appear
   warmer
   and
   more
   at
   ease
   than
   actors.

However,
  if
  you
  find
  yourself
  asking
  a
  couple
  to
  reveal
  a
  ‘truth’
  to
  you,
  be
  sure
  to
  ask

them
  to
  talk
  in
  emotive
  language
  and
  always
  “in
  their
  own
  words”.

If
  you’re
  filming
  a
  couple,
  magic
  often
  happens
  when
  they
  are
  in
  familiar
  surroundings.

In
  all
  instances
  a
  good
  love
  story
  is
  about
  having
  a
  compelling
  couple,
  whose
  energy
  and

character
  can
  translate
  on
  to
  film
  as
  this
  will
  trigger
  emotion
  in
  the
  viewer.

About
  Us

Before
   eHarmony
   launched
   in
   2000,
   the
   company’s
   founding
   research
   team
   spent

several
   years
   studying
   the
   marital
   satisfaction
   of
   thousands
   of
   married
   couples.
   They

wanted
  to
  understand
  why
  some
  couples
  remain
  highly
  satisfied
  with
  their
  relationships

over
   time
   and
   what
   unique
   qualities
   distinguish
   the
   most-‐satisfied
   couples
   from
   all

others.

Rome 2010 / eHarmony Competition Brief
Their
  research
  found
  that
  couples
  whose
  values,
  beliefs,
  attitudes
  and
  personalities
  are

similar
   are
   likeliest
   to
   remain
   happy
   in
   their
   relationships.

   These
   traits
   are
   good

predictors
  of
  relationship
  satisfaction
  because
  they
  remain
  relatively
  stable
  throughout

a
   person’s
   adult
   life.

   Using
   these
