EASTERN DISTRICT ASSOCIATION of the AMERICAN ALLIANCE FOR HEALTH, PHYSICAL EDUCATION, RECREATION AND DANCE GUIDELINES FOR CONVENTION SPEAKERS We are delighted that you have consented to be part of the EDA program, and would like to take this opportunity to acquaint you with the Alliance Policies and Procedures regarding presentations. 1. All members of the profession MUST be members of AAHPERD and pay the appropriate convention registration fee regardless of responsibilities and input into programs. [Exception = invited Keynote speaker only.] 2. No honoraria are paid to members of AAHPERD for any presentation made. 3. Professional colleagues whose job descriptions are similar to AAHPERD members are usually treated in the same way as Alliance members with regard to honoraria. 4. Alliance policy forbids smoking during all meetings. 5. Presentations may be taped and made available to the membership at cost, unless objection is voiced. 6. It is assumed that the Alliance has the opportunity to make the initial request to speakers for the use of materials for possible publication. 7. Overhead projectors, and, in limited numbers, VCRs and/or monitors will be made available for your presentation if a written request is submitted by the published deadline. The cost of the production of program materials is to be assumed by the presenter. Highly sophisticated, cutting edge equipment is certainly welcomed, but must be provided by the presenter. ****LCD projectors and computers ARE NOT PROVIDED for any sessions. Rental of this equipment is over $350 per hour, and EDA-AAHPERD cannot cover this cost. You are welcome to bring your own, but EDA assumes no risks for breakage or lost items. 8. No promotional materials regarding product and/or services with which you are associated may be distributed. 9. The touting of commercial ventures, in the context of a presentation is not permitted. 10. Programs should begin and end on time, and time should be included for questions and answers. 11. Handouts are most appreciated. If you choose to have handouts, a minimum of 50 copies for a lecture and 100 copies for a participation workshop is recommended.
