OVERVIEW The City Leadership Program based in the College of Business Administration Student Center for Professional Development (SCPD) is a curriculum based year-long program that highlights and explores the economic, political, community, and governmental resources and organizations within the City of Long Beach. Throughout the year, the participants develop relationships with city leaders and gain insights about the city’s past, present and future. The program is a collaborative endeavor of city governmental agencies and bureaus including the Port of Long Beach, the City of Long Beach Mayor’s Office, the Neighborhood Services Bureau and the City Manager’s Office. TIME COMMITMENT & RESPONSIBILITIES The City Leadership Program requires one-year-round participation that involves Friday morning meetings each month from September to April. Discussions of various topics will be held in City Hall. All sessions are required for all participants. All sessions are held in the Long Beach City Hall unless otherwise advised. APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS City Leadership Program applicants must… Be full-time Cal State Long Beach student (open to all majors) Have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher Complete a minimum of 60 units Include a resume and a cover letter with the application Complete and return a City Leadership Application and Recommendation Form by 4:00 PM on Monday, September 8, 2008
