                     PRESS RELEASE
                                 September 24, 2006

1. Juvenile Referral: Police referred a 13 year old Easton, MD male to Juvenile Services
   on 09/23/06 at about 0310 hours for being a runaway. The juvenile’s mother reported that
   he had runaway on 09/22/06 at about 2300 hours after an argument over being grounded.
   The juvenile returned home of his own will at about 0300 hours on 09/23/06. He was
   referred for being a Runaway, and released to the custody of his mother.
2. Found Property: Police recovered a Blue Next Bicycle behind a business on E Dover
   Street on 09/22/06. The bike had reportedly been there for two months.
3. Damage Accident: Police investigated a damage accident on 09/22/06 at about 1701
   hours at Ocean Gateway and Chapel Road. A 1998 Chevrolet Corvette, operated by
   Joseph T Dobrodey, 44, of Grasonville, MD was W/B Ocean Gateway, stopped for the
   Chapel Road traffic light. A 1994 Ford Aspire, operated by a 17 year old Baltimore, MD
   female, was coming up behind the Corvette, and failed to slow in time to avoid striking it.
   Neither vehicle was towed. The juvenile was cited for Failing to Control Speed to Avoid
   a Collision.
4. Hit and Run Damage Accident: Police are investigating a hit and run accident that
   happened on 09/23/06 at about 0826 hours in the Hardies Parking Lot. A 2003 Ford
   Crown Victoria, operated by Mary F Whitelock, 67, of Chance, MD was in a parking
   spot in the Hardees parking lot. A Chevrolet SUV, operated by a black male in his 20’s
   was backing out of a space and backed into the Ford, and then fled the scene.
5. Hit and Run Damage Accident: Police investigated a damage accident on 09/22/06 at
   about 2022 hours at Dover Road near Choptank Avenue. A 2001 Dodge Ram 1500,
   operated by Wayne D Shanks, 61, of Preston, MD was headed out of town on Dover
   Road, stopped in traffic near Choptank Avenue for the Ocean Gateway traffic signal. A
   1989 Lincoln Town Car, operated by Brian M Beecher, 23, of Easton, MD was behind
   Shanks, and failed to slow in time to avoid striking the Dodge. Beecher then fled the
   scene, with Shanks following him. Beecher did stop when he got to Choptank Avenue.
   Neither vehicle was towed. Beecher was cited for Failing to Control Speed to Avoid a
   Collision and Failing to Remain at Scene of Accident.
6. Juvenile Referrals: Police referred two juvenile males to Juvenile Services after
   responding to Easton High School for a fight complaint. School Officials reported that a
   14 year old Easton, MD male was assaulted at the school on 09/22/06 at about 0945
   hours. The two suspects, a 15 year old Cordova, MD male and 14 year old Easton, MD
   male reportedly assaulted the victim over comments the suspect made over the death of
   the Cordova, MD males mother. The two were referred for Assault 2nd Degree and
   released to a parent’s custody.
7. Damage Accident: Police investigated a damage accident on Easton Parkway at N
   Washington Street on 09/21/06 at about 0921 hours. A 2007 Chevrolet Impala, operated
   by Mary A Fink, 41, of Venetia, PA, was N/B on Easton Parkway at N Washington
       Street. A 2000 GMC 4500, operated by David M Mohr, 40, of Crofton, MD was N/B on
       N Washington Street, and failed to stop for the red signal at Easton Parkway. Mohr struck
       the Impala, which was towed from the scene. Mohr was cited for Failing to Stop at a Red
       Light.
    8. Injury Accident: Police investigated an injury accident on 09/23/06 at about 1717 hours
       at Ocean Gateway and Dover Road. A 2006 Toyota SUV, operated by Lamont R Vernon,
       40, of Centreville, VA, was towing a boat trailer and was W/B on Ocean Gateway
       approaching Dover Road. A 1996 Plymouth Voyager, operated by Shannon M
       Koehlerschmidt, 34, of Pasadena, MD, was also W/B on Ocean Gateway.
       Koehlerschmidt admitted falling asleep and she ran into the boat trailer, which then
       struck the Toyota. The trailer and the Plymouth were towed from the scene.
       Koehlerschmidt was cited for Failing to Control Speed to Avoid a Collision and
       Negligent Driving.
    9. Underage Possession of Alcohol: Police responded to a report of an underage alcohol
       party on Mulberry Drive on 09/23/06 at about 0050 hours. Investigation revealed that
       there were several subjects under the age of 21 that were in possession of alcohol. Police
       cited them as follows:
            17 year old Easton, MD female – cited for Underage Possession and released to
                her mother.
            15 year old Easton, MD male – cited for Underage Possession and released to
                his uncle.
            17 year old St Michaels, MD male – cited for Underage Possession and released
                to his mother.
            17 year old Easton, MD male – cited for Underage Possession and released to
                his mother.
            Thomas L Sewell 3rd, 19, of Easton, MD – cited for Underage Possession and
                released.
            David W Draper JR, 20, of Easton, MD – cited for Underage Possession and
                released.
            Cody J Griffith, 19, of Cordova, MD – cited for Underage Possession and
                released.
            Christopher J Zoller, 19, of Easton, MD – cited for Underage Possession and
                released.
            Lindsey M Asche, 19, of Cordova, MD - cited for Underage Possession and
                released.
            Tyler W Graff, 19, of Easton, MD – cited for Underage Possession and
                released.
            Rachel T Massoni, 20, of Cordova, MD – cited for Underage Possession and
                released.
