Employee appraisal form The staff appraisal is a vital part of any business. It provides an opportunity for management to engage in dialogue with members from all levels and departments; allowing feedback to be provided from both perspectives. Some employers are a little ambivalent about the appraisal, seeing it more as a requirement than an opportunity. The same of course can be said of staff members too. But in truth it is the perfect chance for various levels of a company to communicate openly, share grievances and provide solutions. Nobody is perfect, so there is always room for growth; unfortunately we can't read each others minds - at least in the most part - so having the opportunity to discuss progress and future goals can be very affirming. From the businesses point of view, the appraisal is a chance to offer personal feedback. Day-to-day we all have discussions in the office, but how often do we really get to offer meaningful suggestions or receive feedback on our career progression? Whether they are quarterly, every six months or annually, an appraisal forms an incredibly important part of an employee's lifecycle within a company. Of course, an appraisal form is also the ideal way to document a staff member's progress throughout their months and years of employment. By creating goals and targets it is also easy for an employer to go back and see if they are meeting, exceeding or falling behind on their progression within the company. Just a school report may have marked your progress during your years in education; appraisal forms are equally capable of doing the same for your vocational career - plotting a clear path of progression between one appraisal to another.
