Scrip is a term that means “substitute money”. When you purchase scrip, you’re purchasing negotiable gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash. You can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials, and with every purchase, you earn revenue for St. Ann School.
How scrip generates revenue for you
The Great Lakes Scrip Center acts on behalf of churches, schools and other non-profit organizations to purchase large amounts of scrip from grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers. Because the scrip is purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount. St Ann School buys the scrip from Great Lakes Scrip Center at a discount, and re-sells the certificates to families like yours for full face value. The discount - from two to fifteen percent or more – is St. Ann’s revenue.
Scrip is "shopping cart fundraising”
Scrip is a popular fundraiser because families don’t have to sell anything. Organization members produce revenue by making regular household purchases they would make anyway. Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, even gasoline can be purchased with scrip.
SCRIPS Ordering Procedure
Every St. Ann family will receive a SCRIPS envelope. All SCRIPS transactions should be done using this envelope. Order forms should be filled out completely and placed with the accompanying check into the envelope and placed in the Friday folder. Orders will be placed on Monday morning. The envelope, with the ordered SCRIPS cards, will be returned in the Friday Folder. Included is a list of participating retailers and the denominations offered. Guidelines for Ordering SASE (Saint Ann SCRIPS for Education)
* SASE orders are by CHECK ONLY payable to St. Ann School with notation on the memo section for SASE order. * SASE envelopes and order forms will be provided to each school family for transfers of orders and gift cards via the FRIDAY FOLDER. * SASE orders should be returned to school on Monday in the SASE envelopes and in the FRIDAY FOLDERS. * SASE gift cards will be returned on the following Friday via the FRIDAY FOLDERS. * Any SASE orders returned Tuesday-Friday will be processed the following Monday. If the order minimum is not met, orders will be held until minimum order is achieved. Affected parties will be notified by the SASE coordinator.
