Your Learning Curve
Every job has a learning curve. The legal profession, of course, is no exception. While it takes time and experience to become the best lawyer you can be, why not accelerate the learning curve with the help of a mentor? The Missouri Bar's Mentoring Program provides such an opportunity for you to regularly meet and talk with a volunteer lawyer who can help you find answers to your questions, guide you, encourage you and help you make decisions that may affect your career for years to come. How the Mentoring Program Works You'll be assigned a mentor for a period of one year. Every effort will be made to match you with a mentor who has experience in areas of the law that you specify, by size of practice, special skills and abilities, or whatever is important to you. You and your mentor should decide how to structure the mentoring relationship as to how it will benefit you most. You'll be able to meet with your mentor on a regular basis. Protégé Qualifications: Protégés must be Missouri Bar members. Protégés are required to carry professional liability insurance unless employed by a corporation as "in house" or by a governmental agency. Protégés must sign a disclaimer and release agreeing not to sue the mentor, The Missouri Bar, or any person or entity for the consideration of services rendered through the program. There is no time limit on the number of years in practice in order to request a mentor.
