Is Mobile Marketing and SMS Text Message Marketing Enough?
Description

Because the internet and mobile have made it so easy to get the word out about your products and services, marketers need to employ a variety of marketing methods – all working together – to be successful. Here are a number of marketing ideas to complement your text message marketing campaign.

Is Mobile Marketing and SMS Text Message

Marketing Enough?

As experts in text message marketing, we’re often asked the question: “Is it enough to just use

SMS mobile marketing and its associated techniques in today’s advertising world?” – and the

answer is a resounding NO! Because the internet and mobile have made it so easy to get the

word out about your products and services, you have to employ a variety of marketing methods

– all working together – to be successful. Here are a number of other marketing means you

need to employ along with a strong opt-in text message marketing campaign:

1) Video: There’s nothing stronger than video. Just look at the success of YouTube and you

see the point is obvious. But what most marketers don’t understand is they can use YouTube

videos to drive literally thousands of targeted eyeballs to your website (or mobile landing offer)

simply because YouTube is so powerful. In addition, by incorporating video into your emails,

websites, blogs, and other forms of internet promotion, your message will stand out so much

better than your boring competitor who’s still advertising in the Yellow Pages and wondering

why nothing’s happening during a recession. Subscribe to a good video marketing software

solution, (it’ll cost you about $40/month) and watch how powerful your text message campaigns

become as you integrate it all into a fluid marketing message.

2) Article and Press Release Marketing: Write a good article or a compelling press release

and watch the traffic to your website and/or offer absolutely soar. The best part about this

strategy is that you can find resources that’ll provide you with tremendous traffic for free. Write

an article for ezinearticles.com and people will perceive you as an industry expert if it’s written

well (although they frown upon self-promotion, you’ll have to be a little subtle about your end-

game). However, press releases are all about outward promotion, and you can do a Google

Search for Free Press Release Distribution and find some interesting ways to get your word out

to a very large circulation all ready and curious to opt-into your mobile offer. Plus, many of the

article and press release distribution services allow you to attach videos to your publications –

do it!

3) Blogging: Particularly with WordPress Blogs, there’s almost no better way to get solid

search engine placement for whatever niche industry you are targeting. WordPress blogs are

great because they automatically incorporate many of the secret techniques and “goodies” that

Google, Yahoo, and Bing are all looking for – all you need to do is write good content (which is

not easy, by the way, but if you can do it, blogging will reward you handsomely). In fact, we’ve

got our Certified Text Message Marketing blog to a point where we can rank just about any

keyword on Google on page 1 in less than an hour (as long as the content of the post

concentrates on text message marketing). On July 26th, 2010, we hear about the New York

Philharmonic using text message marketing, wrote a blog post about it, and had first page

Google results in 10 minutes!

4) Google Adwords: I know, I know… it gets expensive to use Adwords. However, if you bid on

long-tail keywords, you can drive a lot of very targeted traffic to your website and/or mobile offer

without breaking the bank. Long-tailing involves honing down your basic keyword into a sub-

phrase that fewer people will search on. The good news is those that do will be more likely to

buy since the search is so refined. Bid on “tooth whitening” and it’ll cost you a fortune. But bid

on “dentist recommended tooth whitening at home” and it’ll cost you a lot less. Our “text

SMILES to 69302 for info on dentist recommended tooth whitening at home” mobile marketing

campaign became quite successful utilizing the strategy of long-tail keyword bidding with

Adwords.

5) Email Marketing: Developing an opt-in email marketing list is still one of the most powerful

ways to promote on the internet. However, regular emailing won’t do it. You need to do targeted

CAMPAIGN emails (preferably with video), which includes sending messages branded with the

look and feel of your company’s marketing materials. Then you need to incorporate

autoresponders to stay in touch with your prospective customers, both on an email and text

message basic. You need to do BOTH! I can almost guarantee that if you look into your email

inbox right this very instant, you’ll have received a number of campaign emails that look like

websites delivered straight to your inbox for viewing. A lot of it is spam, and do you know why?

Because email marketing works – it’s that simple. Think about it: Google, MSN, Yahoo… what

do you think is the most visited website? (Answer: it’s your email inbox since most people check

it countless times each and every day)

You want to be successful in mobile? Develop a strong mobile offer that converts well. Find a

reputable text message marketing company and buy a keyword associated with that offer.

Develop a squeeze page on a WordPress blog (some call it a landing page) detailing your offer

that the text message keyword will direct you to and host the website/blog inexpensively.

Continue to write relevant articles frequently pertaining to your offer on this blog and make sure

you reference the offer on each one. Write a press release announcing your website and submit

it to a variety of press release distribution services and promote the offer on the release. Then

write an informational article about a related topic to your offer and backend your offer as a link

to your website on your signature line of the article.

On everything you do, you’re promoting your text message marketing keyword, so you continue

to get opt-in responses so you’ll constantly be developing a list of potential buyers – then market

to them via text and email, and include your video into your emails, autoresponders, websites,

press releases, articles, etc. Doing it this way will make the most of your mobile marketing

efforts, but remember: man does not buy from text alone.
