     Global Data Synchronization
Letter to Suppliers
Dear Walmart Supplier:

Walmart has implemented the Global Data Synchronization
Network (GDSN) process for item creation and maintenance as
communicated through Retail Link back in 2008.

GDSN uses global industry standards to provide suppliers with
the ability to exchange item data electronically for item creation
and maintenance.

Walmart relies on the accurate, standardized data received
through the Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN) for
existing and new items. GDSN benefits to Walmart and our
suppliers include:
   • Increased speed-to-shelf for new products
   • Improved purchase order accuracy
   • Optimal transportation and logistics
   • Solid foundation for GRS (Global Replenishment System)

Because of these benefits, Walmart expects all of our suppliers to:
   • Select a data provider and provide Walmart with a GLN number by January 31, 2010.
   • Complete initial load of accurate product data by March 1, 2010.
   • Begin creating new items through GDSN immediately.

         Global Data Synchronization
Letter to Suppliers cont’d
Additionally, Walmart expects 100% accurate and consistent
product data (i.e. item dimensions, weights). A scorecard to
monitor data accuracy will be implemented soon.
If you are not yet synchronizing your data with Walmart via
GDSN, we expect you to begin doing so immediately.
