On behalf of the WWS Parent Organization Steering Committee (POSC), we wish you a warm welcome to the community
life of the 2009-2010 school year. We invite you to complete this survey as soon as possible. We encourage each and
every parent to commit to volunteering for at least one of the below noted activities. We welcome and thank you for your
willingness to help with these important activities, many of which cannot occur without the full participation of the parent
body. Your time is a wonderful gift and is greatly appreciated!

BAZAAR, November 21, 2009 School Community Celebrations

o Assist with event set-up (2-3 hrs.)
o Assist with day-of staffing (2-4 hrs.) School Grounds Beautification
o Assist with event clean-up (2-3 hrs.) (2 to 20+ hour commitment)
o Lead a workshop to create handcrafted items (3 hrs) o Adopt one or more planting beds to water and
o Make and bake treats, side dishes, etc. (2 hrs.) weed throughout the school year.
o Locate and deliver evergreen trimmings for Children’s o Garden with students
Maze and overall school decoration. (3 hrs.) o Create new gardens/planting beds
The annual Bazaar is truly a community-wide effort and its
success depends on parent volunteers. Your time and Increasing Connectivity in the WWS Community
talents are needed in helping to plan and coordinate this (2 + hour commitment)
festive fund- and friend-raiser. We encourage each parent o Become a POSC Class Representative
to contribute at least two volunteer hours for the Bazaar, o Help with Faculty Appreciation Lunches
for event set-up, staffing and/or clean-up. Thank you! o Greet guests at Open House events
o Assist with welcoming new families
o Provide homemade foods for special events
40th Anniversary Spring Gala, April 10, 2010 o Assist with special events decorating
(2 to 10+ hour commitment) o Share a project, craft or special skill with
o Act as Coordinator for event planning, decorations, food other parents

Volunteer Opportunities with the Sustainability Circle

o Organize Nutritious Snack Program for your class (Gr. 1-6). Circle Guidelines are located in Library.
o Vegetable Gardening Program (usually Gr. 2 and 3). Speak with to current class teachers.
o Composting (Gr. 2 and 3). Speak with current class teachers.
o Spiritual Food Community Supported Agriculture (members sign up and prepay to receive biodynamic and
organic vegetables brought to the school on Wednesdays, please talk to Lori Kulik (Gr 6 and 10) or check out
o Repair outdoor pizza oven.
o Build shelter for outdoor pizza oven.
o School kitchen help: on site food preparation, cooking and cleaning on cooking days of the Circle, most likely
Tuesdays and Thursdays. Ongoing service opportunity.
o Pick-up and deliver veggies at Dupont Circle on Sunday mornings; run to MOM's for occasional shopping.
On-going service opportunity.
o Assist with organizing community building family events outside of school, e.g. we have been visiting Heinz
Thomet's organic farm for the last two years.
