You Can still Apply NOW to attend the 2010 National Jamboree. On July 26th 2010 the Boy Scouts of America will open the 2010 National Jamboree celebrating 100 years of scouting in America. The National Jamboree will be one of the high points of a Scout's Scouting experience. Those attending will become part of America's Scouting history. YES the Palmetto Council is still taking applications for scouts who want to take part in this historic scouting event. Each troop is comprised of 36 Scouts and 4 leaders. Our contingent leaders have been selected but the council is still taking youth applications to fill our two troops. All interested scouts are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible to reserve your spot in scouting history. Troops will be comprised of scouts and leaders selected from across the Council. Scouts will represent the best Palmetto Council has to offer. Scouts selected must be at least 12 years old or have completed the sixth grade by July 1, 2010; have achieved the rank of First Class by July 1, 2010; and will not reach their eighteenth birthday by Aug. 3, 2010. Scouts must have the approval of his Scoutmaster/Chartering Organization. The cost to attend the 2010 National Jamboree from the Palmetto Council is projected at this time to be $1,400.
