Dear Parents,

Your child will be writing a report in celebration of Black History Month! The
report is over a famous African American. Students will be researching information
about their famous African American. The report is due on February 13, 2008. I
will not accept any late reports after February 13, 2008. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!! If
you know your child will be absent for any reason, your child needs to make
arrangements to turn the report in early. I will be staying after school starting
January 22, 2008 in order for students to start typing there reports. Students
will need to go to the county library in order to get additional information about
their famous African American. You can also check my website at
www.jenningsk12.net/HE/coleman (click on writing workshop) to view the current
assignment for class. Thank you for your cooperation!


Black History Report Assignment Requirements:
        Typed
        Font Size 12
        Double Spaced
        5 Paragraphs (10 sentences per paragraph)
        Paragraph Format (each paragraph must be indented)
        Report Cover
        Title Page (including name of person, your name, and picture of the
          person)
        Bibliography page (citing the 3 sources you used in your report)
        Use at least 3 different sources (The internet is only one source!)
        DO NOT PLAGARIZE!! (Write the report in your OWN words!)

   Include the following in your report:

         Date of birth & Date of death (if applies)
         How did this person impact society?
         Why is this person famous?
         What are some struggles/issues did this person have to deal with?
         What type of character do you think this person displayed?
         What is this person doing now? (If the person is still alive)

Assignment Requirements:

    Do not plagiarize!!! Write the report in your own words!!
Include the following in your report:
       Date of birth
       Date of death (if applies)
       How did this person impact society?
       Why is this person famous?
       What are some struggles/issues did the person have to
         encounter?
       What is this person doing now? (if the person is still alive)
       What are some of the person’s accomplishments?



Please note that no reports will be accepted late! Students may turn in
their reports early. Students will be given a receipt once the paper has been
turned in. Students will need to visit the St. Louis County Library for other
sources for their reports.
                         Black History Stamp
                        Due February 13, 2008




Your task will be to design and create a Black History Stamp. The stamp
must be of your famous African American.



Stamp Requirements:
    Stamp value must be 39 cents.
    A hand drawn picture must be included on the stamp
    Something of significance to the person must be drawn on the stamp
    Stamp must be colored.
    Stamp must be printed out.
    The stamp is to be placed with your black history report.
