CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT/EARLY COLLEGE ADMINISSION/ADVANCED
PLACEMENT PROGRAM

  A. PURPOSE AND PHILOSOPHY

It is the Board’s desire to provide a challenging productive secondary school
experience for all students. For some students this may include courses
offered at a college level. The Board provides such educational opportunities
to students through concurrent enrollment, early college admission, and
advanced placement. The purpose of this policy is to outline these curriculum
options and specify the standards and procedures for these options.

  B. CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT

       1. Concurrent Enrollment exists when:

          ○ A high school student enrolls in one or more Oklahoma Higher
Education System institution courses and continues to be enrolled
full-time at the high school; or

          ○ A high school student receives credit for successfully completing
Concurrent Enrollment courses at the high school and the Higher
                     Education System institution level.

       2. Concurrent Enrollment Student Eligibility Requirements

Students desiring to participate in the Concurrent Enrollment Program
become eligible by meeting the following requirements:

                a. A grade point average and A.C.T. composite score that
predicts success (generally considered to be a B average and
score of 19 or higher) as determined jointly by the Oklahoma
                          State System of Higher Education.
                b. Obtain a supportive letter of recommendation and approval
                          of the high school principal.
                c. High School Concurrent Enrollment Students must have the
                          signature of a parent/guardian authorizing the student’s
                          participation in the program.

     3. CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT CREDIT

        ○ Participation in Concurrent Enrollment generates higher education
credit that becomes a part of the student’s permanent college
transcript. Course registration and the awarding of college credit
through Concurrent Enrollment is the province of colleges and
universities governed by Oklahoma Higher Education System
                  policies.

             a. Concurrent Enrollment offerings shall be limited to courses
in English, mathematics, fine arts, humanities, science, social
sciences, and languages to allow a focus of energy and
resources on quality instruction in these courses.
             b. Concurrent Enrollment courses should assist students toward
                       post-secondary degrees.
             c. Students will not be allowed to take courses in subject areas
that the student previously received below a C grade, whether
taken at the college or high school level.
             d. Concurrent Enrollment students will not be allowed to enroll
                       in any physical education courses.
             e. Courses offered are at the college level and instructors will
teach at that level. Students may be exposed to and be
involved in discussions of mature subjects.

        ○ Students are limited to six (6) units, or two (2) classes, whichever
             comes first, per semester.
        ○ Concurrent Enrollment course credit will count for completion of
high school graduation requirements, as well as count for college
             credit.
        ○ Three (3) semester higher education hours equal one (1) unit of high
             school credit.

     4. Funding

        ○ Funding shall be allocated by the Oklahoma State Regents for
Higher Education as per SB 982.

                  participation in this program.
        ○ Students may be required to pay for parking, course materials,
books and health fees. Associated Student Body representation
fees and the Student ID may be required.

college experience and a permanent college transcript. Course
registration and the awarding of a college credit through Early
College Admission is the province of colleges and universities
governed by the Oklahoma State System of Higher Education
               Regents.
        ○ Early College Admission credits may be counted for completion of
               high school graduation requirements if:

               a.     The school approves the post-secondary program;
               b. The student provides the school with progress reports and
