Dear Representative Barela:
Over the past several months, the New Mexico Department of
Transportation (NMDOT) has worked cooperatively with you and Valencia
Bill Richardson
County officials in developing a plan to fund two needed sets of railroad Governor
grade crossing improvement projects in Valencia County: the Molina
Gary L. J. Giron
RoadNalentin Road project and the Mesa Road/Don Felipe Road/Lopez Cabinet Secretary
Road project. Lawrence Barreras has asked me to provide you a status
report on these projects.
The Molina RoadNalentin Road project is managed by the Mid Region Commission
Council of Governments (MRCOG) who is in the process of developing final
project cost estmates. Construction on this project is scheduled to begin in
December 2010 and be completed within two to four weeks. Johnny Cope

The Mesa Road/Don Felipe Road/Lopez Road project is being managed by
BNSF who is in the process of developing final project cost estimates. Jim Franken

Construction on this project is scheduled to begin in April 2011 and be District 4
completed in June 2011.
