The Department of Family Medicine and Public Health
Sciences, within the School of Medicine (SOM) at
Wayne State University (WSU), is seeking a senior bio-
statistician or epidemiologist at the associate or full pro-
fessor level to become the Director of a newly created
Division of Epidemiology and Biostatistics within the
Department. This new Division will play a central role in
developing and expanding the public health and medical
research programs at WSU. Faculty in the Division will
also be involved in teaching in the MPH Program
housed within the Department. The Department has an
active research program and ranks 19th among US
departments of family medicine in NIH funding. The
SOM has a multitude of residency and fellowship pro-
grams and has the largest enrollment of any single cam-
pus medical school in the US.

The successful applicant should be eligible for tenure
and have a PhD in biostatistics, epidemiology or an
allied field, along with a proven track record of external
research funding and peer reviewed publications. A
strong background in collaborative research in a variety
of medical settings is highly desirable. Experience in
teaching at the graduate level is important. Relevant
administrative experience is also a plus. A clear vision
of how the development of the Division should proceed
is also critical as the new Director will be instrumental in
the selection of new faculty to fill several tenure slots
already approved for this new Division.

All candidates should send a statement of interest, cur-
riculum vitae, including a list of publications and funded
grants, teaching and community service experience, and
