2010 AUSTRALIAN MENS LACROSSE TEAM 1. Announcement of 2010 Squad It is with great please that we announce the 2010 Australian Mens Lacrosse Team Squad. The named players have been selected only from players who competed at the recent Australian Championships in Perth. Players who were unable to compete in Perth, including those based overseas, and who would like to be considered for inclusion in the Squad should contact one of the coaches listed in this bulletin and register their Expression of Interest. This request will then be considered by the coaching panel before a final decision is made in relation to the possible inclusion. The coaches reserve the right to add or delete players from the Squad at any time. Such announcements may occur at any time prior to the final team being selected. The naming of a player into the Squad is always subject to ratification by Lacrosse Australia and by the relevant State association. Congratulations are extended to the 57 players who have been successful in making the list. Players will then commence a Strength and Conditioning program and will continue with the program through to the 2009 Nationals in July. All squad members will be expected to compete in the 2009 Nationals, and will then be required to attend a Selection Trials Camp for 4 days immediately thereafter. The exact dates are still to be determined. Feedback has been received from players in previous campaigns that running a two year campaign is too long and too expensive. It has therefore been decided to vary the 2010 campaign to be more in line with the USA process. No separate squad trainings will take place at state level prior to the 2009 Nationals, and, the 2010 Team and Alternates will be announced after the Selection Trials Camp. 2. Pre-World’s Preparation There is strong agreement amongst the coaches that the team needed the toughest competition possible and should not waste time playing against weaker teams. Use of experienced USA coaches will be considered. The 2010 Nationals will be scheduled to fit in with the team’s departure plans, and if possible, include strong international teams. Consideration will be given to the July 4 Vaille Tournament in Colorado as a training event for the team along with possible games in Baltimore and New York before heading off to England. Exhibition games and training camps may also be a possibility as fund-raiser events. Further warm-up games against other premier countries are also to be considered once the team reaches Manchester.
