                 in agriculture or a related field. Scholarships in the amount of
                $1,500 will be awarded annually to deserving Georgia rural stu-
                dents enrolled in the study of Agriculture or an Agriculture re-
                lated field. Consideration for the scholarship will be based
                “80%” on financial need. For an application please see Ms.

Veterans of     The Veterans of Foreign Wars will be awarding a 1st place -           05/01/10
Foreign Wars    $1,000, 2nd place - $750 and a 3rd place - $500 to the winning
Post 9143       essay on “ What is a Veteran”. This essay contest is open to
                all graduating seniors in Forsyth County. For complete details

The Run for a   The Run for a Reason Scholarship provides collegiate finan-           04/31/10
Reason          cial assistance for high school seniors who will be graduating
Scholarship     from a Forsyth County School. A special road race in the Cum-
                ming City Park on May 15th, 2010 will be held as a fundraiser
                for the scholarship. This scholarship particularly pertains to stu-
                dents with at least a 2.5 GPA and those who participate in
                healthy lifestyle activities and extracurricular involvement. Ap-
                plicants must submit the Run for a Reason Application. This ap-
                plication can be found at www.Run-for-a-Reason.com. Applic-
                ants must submit a recommendation letter for the scholarship
                from a teacher, coach, or athletic director as well. Also, applic-
                ants must submit a typed, double-spaced essay
                (of about 300 to 500 words), explaining to us:
                - Why he/she feels they need the money to jumpstart their col-
                lege career.
                - How he/she has been active within the school system or com-
                munity.
                - How he/she plans on staying active and maintaining a healthy
                lifestyle.
                - What his/her plans are for their future career.


  Six Flags     DoSomething.org has teamed up with Six Flags Friends to               04/30/10

                be awarded based on past, current and planned action in the
                community as well as the applicant's passion, commitment and
                proven leadership skills. Six winners will receive a $1,500 col-

  Alpha Tau     Two $500 scholarships will be awarded for the upcoming Fall           08/03/10

                their leadership skills through school/community involvement,

 Will Davison   The Will Davison Memorial Scholarship fund will be awarding           05/01/10
  Memorial      one scholarship to a senior in good standing who is pursuing a

                others”. One scholarship will be awarded in each of the Forsyth
                County High Schools. Community service and letters of recom-
                mendation are required. All interested candidates should see
                Ms. Suarez in the counseling office for an application and full
                criteria.
  Ducktown       Ducktown Masonic Lodge is giving away two $1,000                05/03/10
   Masonic       scholarships to graduating seniors who are good students
    Lodge        and are active in their school and the community. Also,

                 really needs help as they take the next step towards col-
                 lege. Only 10 applications will be given out, so please see
                 Ms. Suarez in the counseling office if you are interested.

 Lanier 400      The Lanier 400 Bulldawg Club is offering a scholarship          05/03/10
Bulldawg Club    to a graduating senior who will be attending UGA in the
                 Fall of 2009. Interested applicants must fill out a common
                 application available in the counseling office. Please see

OCA-Georgia/     This scholarship recognizes Asian-American high school          05/17/10
