MEETING MINUTES – July 2, 2008
The regularly scheduled monthly meeting of the Ruby Valley Conservation District was called to order by
Gary Giem, Chairman, at 8:00 p.m. at the NRCS Conference Room, Sheridan, Montana.
BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT:

GUESTS PRESENT:
Marni Thompson, NRCS Nick Pairitz, NRCS Mike Brady, Headwaters RC&D Coord.
Approval of the minutes of the last meeting (June 4, 2008), motion by John to approve as mailed, second by
Jan, motion carried.
Treasurers Report for June 2008 (Attach. “A”), motion by John to approve, second by Jan, motion carried.
NRCS REPORT: Marni Thompson presented NRCS report – see attached. Introduced Nick Pairitz the
new Engineering Technician for the Sheridan office.

RV08-19 Emergency – Jerry Nyhart for Baker Ditch – Baker Slough – cleaned out diversion. Dick & Gary
inspected 6/11/08. Motion to approve by John, second by Jan, motion carried.
RV08-Maint01 - Maint.Agmt. – Mike Marsh – Beaverhead River. Dick & Gary to inspect 6/30/08. Motion
to approve for a ten year agreement by John, second by Bruce, motion carried.
RV08-20 Larry Songer – Alder Gulch – mining, suction dredge. Dick & Ann to inspect 6/30/08. Motion to
declare this not a project by Bruce, second by Jan, motion carried.
OLD BUSINESS:
1. Planning Board – no report.
2. Watershed (GW Modeling) –no report
3. 319 Grant (WQRP) – update – no report
4. Lazyman Creek Grant – update – no report.
5. 319 Grant – Sauerbier Feedlot Reclamation – update – no report.
6. Big Hole Cooperative Ditch Project – no report.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. Annual Banquet – April 12, 2008 – Final Financial Report – made a profit of $695.68.
2. The new mileage rate effective July 1, 2008 is $.585 per mile.
3. Mike Brady, Headwaters RC&D Coordinator, introduced himself to the Board, gave a short
review of some of their important projects and reminded us the next RC&D meeting will be
August 27, 1:00pm, in Butte at the RC&D office.
