Fellowship of Christian Farmers, International PO Box 15 – Lexington, IL 61753 Phone: (309) 365-8710 e-mail: fellowship@fcfi.org PRAYER GUIDE - January 2009 01 - Happy New Year! Yes, today we start a new year with new or renewed hopes and dreams. Jesus gives us a chance, actually many chances, to begin again, too. When Peter asked Jesus how many times he should forgive someone Jesus answered, “I tell you not seven times seven but seventy times seven (really an infinite number), Matthew 18:22. 02 - The new year is only two days old and many of us have already sinned against you, Man of Sorrows. We not only seek your generous forgiveness but your guidance and wisdom. “Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ came into the world to save sinners --- of whom I (Paul) am the worst”, 1 Timothy 1:15. 03 - The South Jersey FCFI Chapter Prayer Breakfast is scheduled for this morning. Advocate, men and women will be approaching you through prayer today. Please hear their prayers as you hear ours. Send your Holy Spirit to provide direction and bring to mind the many people, places, and situations that need attention. 04 - Staff, board members, and volunteers of FCFI all need our prayers. Let us enter the throne of grace for all these men and women and their families. True Vine, these servants of FCFI first need forgiveness for their sins and shortcomings. Secondly, they need your anointing as they attempt to carry out the duties assigned to them. We remember especially this day the eighty-seven year old father of longtime volunteer, Julie Holmes, who has been in ill health for some time. Lord, strengthen him and give Julie peace. 05 - Pastor Pie from Burundi asked for and received a grant from FCFI. He has purchased some land and planted rice in late November, and early December (below the Equator). Jehovah Jireh we pray that our and their investment in Burundi will yield 100 fold both in crops and as a witness to those who have yet to receive Christ as their Savior. 06 -FCFI kicks off the „09 witness season at the three day Dakota Farm Show in Vermillion, South Dakota which begins today. Everlasting Father, use all your people and resources available to open hearts to hear and respond to your precious message of grace and forgiveness at this farm show. 07 - Many of our colleges and universities have become forums for radical socialism, feminism, and anti-Christian thought. Head of the Church, protect our young people seeking to further their education from those who wish to undermine their faith and guide them to become faithful citizens of our great country. 08 - Ron and Deb Herrold are preparing to lead a short term mission trip to Mexico with Gene Petit beginning tomorrow and going through January 17th. God of the Universe, prepare the hearts and bodies of the mission team members to do and to be all you have in store for them. Go before them, Holy Spirit to prepare the fields for a bountiful harvest. 09 - For two days Jerry Rice and his fellow witnesses will share our “walking stick” message of forgiveness and a new life in Christ with folks at the KNID Agri-fest in Enid, Oklahoma. We pray that the harvest of souls will be plentiful. 10 - Some farm shows are big and others are HUGE. The Pennsylvania Farm Show runs from January 10 to 17 and over 1 million people are expected to attend. Wow! What an opportunity for our FCF exhibit! Move mightily at this event Bright Morning Star. Swell the number of names listed in the “Lambs Book of Life” to more than we could imagine. 11 - “Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him”, Genesis 5:24. I AM, I, too, want to walk with you. Show me your way, Lord, show me your way. 12 - “God said, “Let us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness”, Genesis 1:26. How can so many people say that we “evolved”? Obviously, they don‟t take His Word as truth. Yahweh, open our eyes and those of non-believers. We need to believe your Word now as never before. There is no other way to become “King‟s Kids”. 13 - Fort Wayne, Indiana is the site for the Fort Wayne Farm Show. Light of the World, do you get tired of going to Farm Shows? I doubt it because you are a farmer or, at least, a shepherd. Our witness team needs your guidance on January 13th to 15th to bring a great harvest of souls at this event. 14 - George and Julie Holmes are packing up to go to Albania for the 14th (maybe the 15th time). Tomorrow they and several “short term” missionaries board a plane to begin another outreach to the Albanian people. The team will be there for two weeks but George and Julie will remain for a longer period to host other teams and lead Albanians who work for the Lord in their own country. Alpha and Omega, we pray continued success for our friends. We pray for health, safety, provision, and an enjoyable time, and for many souls to enter your kingdom. 15 - The farm show circuit is “heating up” in the cold of January. Norfolk, Nebraska hosts the two day Nebraska Farm Show starting today. Teacher, we again call on you for help as many with needs and wants come into the FCF farm show tent. Use Don Wolmsely and his team to quietly “shout” the Good News to all who enter. 16 - PV asks prayer for his son-in-law that he soon finds a rewarding job. We now do just that. Creator and Sustainer of Life, we pray that a well paying job that fit‟s the needs and abilities of PV‟s son-in-law opens up even as we pray and we add to our prayer that others seeking a job or business opportunity “fall into” just what they are looking for. 17 - “ I am the living bread which came down from heaven --- “, John 6:54. Isn‟t it interesting that the “living bread” was born in Bethlehem which means “house of bread”? Bread of Life, we pray that we can “absorb” the living bread to become more like you, Jesus, in every way. 18 - “Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight”, Isaiah 5:21. “Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him”, Proverbs 26:12. “If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself”, Galatians 6:3. “Let another praise you and not your own mouth; someone else and not your own lips”, Proverbs 27:2. Guess what God thinks of the proud? Lord, help me to choose humility not pride and arrogance. 19 - “And without faith it is impossible to please God because anyone who come to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him”, Hebrews 11:16. Do you see the pesky words --impossible and must? Wonderful Counselor, without you it is impossible for us to have that kind of faith. We must depend upon you. 20 - “His compassions never fail --- they are new every morning”, Lamentations 3: 22,23. In other words, God‟s love is unconditional. Holy Father, you are the perfect father. Your standards are high but your compassion and forgiveness are limitless. Thank you, Lord. 21 - “ --- I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some” II Corinthians 9:22. Paul gave all he had so that he might save some. King of Kings, might we do as well? Help us, Jesus. 22 - Are you a sportsman? If so, you might want to attend the Sportsmen‟s Expo in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania any day between January 22nd and 25th. Even if you are not into sports or cannot attend, you can pray for those who do, especially those who stop by the FCF booth to hear the Good News of Jesus. 23 - Here is a comment and prayer request from our Christian physician friend in the Sudan. “As Christmas and a New Year come, we always look back and thank the Lord for all his goodness. We are also grateful to the Lord for our Brothers and Sisters in the Lord whom the Lord has used in many ways to bless us. We would appreciate your prayers for this specific need (finances to cover costs for a master‟s degree in Public and Tropical Health). Thank you, Lord, for our friend, Alex, and for those who pray for his need. 24 - “Ask and it will be given to you: seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you: for everyone who asks, receives, he who seeks, finds, and to him who knocks, the door will be opened”, Matthew 7:7,8. That is why we pray. The “prayer of a righteous man (or woman) is powerful and effective”, James 5:16. Lord, help us to pray faithfully. 25 - “Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands just as we told you so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody”, 1 Thessalonians 4:11,12. Me a witness? Yes, if you are ambitious and work to “make ends meet”. Thank you, Lamb of God, for challenging me to “work out our salvation”. 26 - Did you know that they have farm shows in Western United States, too? The Northwest Ag Show runs from January 27th to January 29th in Portland, Oregon. Word of God, magnify your Word at this farm show through the every popular “walking stick” ministry of our FCF workers. 27 - Two farm shows start today, the two day Midwest Ag Expo in Gifford, Illinois and the three day Sioux Falls Farm Show in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Dayspring, we once more call upon you to guide our witness teams to share your Good News to all seeking the truth. Multiply their efforts as they extend the wonderful story of grace, forgiveness, and salvation to all who enter the booth. 28 - “You shall not covet your neighbor‟s wife, you shall not set your desires on your neighbor‟s house or land, his man servant or maidservant, his ox or donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor”, Deuteronomy 5:21, the 10th commandment. No wonder some people want to ban the ten commandments. They want what you have. Some even call it “taxes”. Lord, help us to be obedient to your commandments, all of them. 29 - “Suppose a brother or sister is without (adequate) clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, “Go. I wish you well: keep warm and well fed” but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?”, James 2: 15,16. FCFI needs funds to minister to those damaged by flood, fire, drought, and other calamities. Can you help? Our prayer today is that many will “step up to the plate” so that our outreaches can continue. 30 - “The Lord abhors dishonest scales, but accurate weights are his delight”, Proverbs 11:1. The word abhor is a pretty strong word. Yet, it clearly states how our God feels about such things. Our Judge, show us clearly where we may have been dishonest in our dealings. Encourage us to make right where possible and grant us the determination to not do it again. 31 - “Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow through him! By this he meant the (Holy) Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified”, John 7:38,39. The green bead on our “walking stick” represents our growth through this promised Holy Spirit. Author and Finisher of our Faith, I want those streams of living water flowing through me! Thank you, Lord.
