CITY OF PITTSBURGH 2009 PARKING TAX BULLETIN PARKING TAX RATE CHANGE Effective January 1, 2009 the Parking Tax rate will decrease from forty percent (40%) to thirty seven and one half percent (37.5%). The new rate shall be applied to all taxable considerations collected in January 2009 and to all subsequent 2009 taxable collections. The new rate will be reported for the first time on the January 2009 Parking Tax Monthly Report form due February 15, 2009. ALL 2009 monthly Parking Tax reports shall show parking tax collected at the thirty seven and one half percent (37.5%) rate. CALCULATION EXAMPLE FOR THE PARKING TAX If a parking place collects a total charge of $10.00 to park, including tax, the parking tax would be calculated by taking $10.00 x .27273 = $2.73. In this example, for each car parked at $10.00, the operator would keep $7.27 and send $2.73 to the City of Pittsburgh.
