IT’S TIME TO FILE THE 2008-2009 FAFSA!
The FAFSA for 2008-2009 will cover the aid periods from: July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009
If you filed a FAFSA for 2007-2008, the 2008-2009 application will ask you if you want the information from 2007-2008 to be pre-filled on the 2008-2009 FAFSA. We recommend that Returning Students use the pre-filled application to file the FAFSA for 2008-2009.

The Priority Processing Deadlines for the 2008-2009 FAFSA are: April 1, 2008 for Returning Students May 1, 2008 for New Students
You should have an eligibility decision before Fall 2008, if you file your FAFSA by the deadline dates above. NOTE: If your FAFSA is received after these deadline dates, we will continue to process your application, but you must be prepared to make a payment on your registration bill or sign up for the College’s Deferred Payment Plan, if your file has not been reviewed.
What you will need to file the FAFSA for 2008-2009:
You must be admitted to Essex County College, therefore complete the Admissions Application and process before you file the FAFSA (New Students). Before you begin your FAFSA, you will need to apply for a PIN to sign the FAFSA electronically. Apply for a PIN at www.pin.ed.gov. NOTE: If you are providing parent’s information, your parent will need their own PIN to sign the FAFSA. Note: if you and/or your parent does not have a PIN, or if you have forgotten your PIN, you may request a PIN at www.pin.ed.gov. Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov and file the 2008-2009 FAFSA. Please include our school code 007107 your FAFSA. Take the College Placement Test (New Students). Have a High School Diploma or GED or If you are a Non-High School Graduate, contact Enrollment Services at (973) 877-3100 to make an appointment to take the Ability to Benefit Test (ATB). Declare a major in a Degree or Certificate Program. The 2007 1040 for you, your spouse and/or your parents. Finally, it is very important that you respond immediately to all additional document requests you receive from the Financial Aid Office. Include your name and ECC ID number on all documents you submit to our office.
