The pre-school, a component of the Education Careers Academy, provides important training experiences for high school students pursuing teaching careers. Under the direct supervision of fully-certified teachers, high school students work with pre-schoolers to learn about child development as well as planning, implementing and evaluating pre-school curricula. The schedule below outlines the morning and afternoon pre-school programs available for three and four year olds. Eligible children must meet this age requirement by October 1st. All Orange County residents may apply for the pre-school program. Applications must be postmarked by March 16, 2009. Orange-Ulster BOCES will select the 3-year old and 4-year old pre-school participants by lottery on March 30, 2009. Parents who wish to submit their child’s name into the pre-school lottery should call (845) 291-0300, leave their name, child’s name and birth date, address and phone number. An application will be mailed immediately following the receipt of this information.
