Dear FCC Hospital Visitation Team,
Recently, I accepted the request of Rick Hendricks to set up the schedule for
hospital visitation for 2009. As I anticipated, each of you willingly agreed to
serve in this vital ministry.
To those of you who are continuing, thanks for the times you have gone to the
hospital and given support to the patients and their families. As a recipient of
those visits, I know that having that support from Christian friends is
heartwarming. To those of you joining this year, you and I are the new team
members so we will just learn together and ask questions when necessary.
The calendar for the year is included, and if you need to make any changes, please
let me know. Also, if you need a replacement any time, you may contact me or
ask someone to go in your place.
In order for your visit to be of most benefit to the patients, I am sending the
following information which has been shared by current team members.
*There are no set hours for visitation. In the past, it seems that around
4:00 p.m. is a good time if that’s convenient for you. That is the time when
patients are least likely to be eating, bathing or in therapy.
*The family often needs your prayers and support as much as the patient.
*Limit the length of your visit. Patients often tire easily.
*Ask for any special requests of you or the church.
*Listening is one of the best gifts you can share.
*Pass on information to the person visiting the following day.
*Call Leola to find out the patients’ names and room numbers. Also call
or e-mail her after the visit giving her any updates. It is very important for
Leola and the ministers to have current information.
Your visit may be the highlight of the day for that patient; you may be the one to
make a difference in the healing process.
Please call or e-mail me if I can be of any assistance.
In Christian love,
