KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION AND ASSESSMENT
Kindergarten Registration for the 2009-2010 school year will be a two part process –
Registration and Student Assessment. Please read the following information carefully in order to
understand the procedures.
PART 1 – REGISTRATION
Kindergarten Registration will be held at the Delran Board of Education Office, 52 Hartford
Road, on Tuesday, March 31, and Wednesday, April 1, 2009 from 9:00 – 11:30 am and 1:00 – 3:00
Registration is an administrative activity for parents of incoming kindergartners. To enter
kindergarten in the 2009-2010 school year, a child must be five years old on or before September 30,
2009. A birth certificate, a copy of immunization records to be kept by the school, and a proof
of residency, (tax bill, sewer bill, utility bill, agreement of sale, or residency/registration form
from Hunters Glen rental office), MUST be presented at the time of registration and
appropriate forms filed. Students will not be registered unless all three documents are
presented. Parents will also be required to schedule a 40 minute appointment for the April
student assessment as described below.
Children need not be present during registration. Incoming kindergartners will meet their
teachers and visit their classrooms at the September Kindergarten Orientation. More information
about Orientation will follow.
PART II – ASSESSMENT
All incoming kindergartners must be assessed prior to classroom placement. The
assessment will include a sampling of cognitive, fine motor, gross motor, and social
development skill checks. The assessment will take approximately 40 minutes, and it will be
administered April 27, 28, 29 and 30 at Millbridge School by kindergarten teachers. Be sure to
sign up for an April assessment for your child during the kindergarten registration.
Please note that State Law REQUIRES children to have the following immunizations verified by your
• Four (4) doses Diphtheria, Pertussis, Tetanus vaccine (minimum), one dose of which
MUST be given on or after the FOURTH birthday.
• Three (3) doses Polio Vaccine (minimum), one dose of which MUST be given on or after
the FOURTH birthday.
• Two (2) doses Measles-Containing vaccine, preferably Measles, Mumps and Rubella, both
doses of which MUST be given after the FIRST birthday, separated by an interval of at
least one month.
• Rubella and Mumps vaccine, one dose each on or after FIRST birthday (can be combined
• Three (3) doses hepatitis B vaccine.
• Varicella (chickenpox) vaccine, one dose given on or after FIRST birthday.
NO STUDENT WILL BE PERMITTED TO START KINDERGARTEN IN SEPTEMBER
UNLESS ALL IMMUNIZATIONS AND PHYSICAL EXAMINATION FORMS ARE COMPLETED.
