The entry fee is non-refundable.
No Xeroxed Music accepted – No exceptions. Parents and Teachers wait in the waiting room – no parents or teachers listening outside the audition room door etc. Helpers: Many thanks to all volunteers who helped with the audition last year. It was wonderful to have your help. If you can volunteer please let me know if you might help for a whole day or morning or afternoon. Special Requests: We will do our best to honor special requests. Last year I received several phone calls – “I requested 11:00 a.m.? What happened?” Well, I may have received 15+ requests for a particular time and we only have 12 slots for each time …that’s what happened! Sorry! If anyone would like to help with the scheduling – please volunteer! Age Classification: Use the Age of the student 1 Sept. 2008 when filling out the forms, even though this is March 2009. Nine months of study count as 1 year when filling out length of study. District Auditions are for students age 6-18. Students who are age 10 by Sept. 1, 2008 may go to the State AMTA Audition in May 2009, or students who are in the 5th grade may go. All students must have received the grade of Outstanding in both theory and performance to be eligible to audition at the State Audition. We sometimes say: Double 0. The state audition is for ages 10 – 18. If a student wishes to enter the concerto audition he/she must have received an O in theory at the district level. Read the Student Activities Handbook, 2005-2010, the information on our website for the State AMTA (almta.org) and our local HMTA web site (hsvmta.org).. STATE AMTA Audition Forms (the same forms minus the theory sheet) are due very soon after our district audition. Check the Soundboard for deadlines and requirements. There is NO Theory requirement for the State Audition in Montevallo! There will be an information letter in your packet that you receive after the District Audition about the State Audition. Questions? Last year I had several requests for a meeting discussing repertoire requirements, forms, details and questions about the procedure to enter students in AMTA – Let me know if you have questions and perhaps I will receive several inquiries and I will schedule a time convenient for us to meet and discuss this. AMTA Theory Keyboard Requirements Booklets are available with all examples written out in full. These booklets were compiled by Dr. Ron Shinn. They are: Division I ($7.00), Division II ($6.00), Division III ($8.00), and a Complete Booklet ($17.00). Contact him at rshinn@samford.edu. .
