ANIMALIA ISTANBUL 2009, THE INTERNATIONAL CATTLE BREEDING AND STOCK REARING TRADE FAIR WILL BE HELD AT THE ISTANBUL FAIR CENTER. Turkey and the Middle-East’s Foremost International Livestock UFI Certified Trade Fair will run from 25-27 June 2009. The Turkish Livestock sector has become an important player and to reflect the fact ANIMALIA ISTANBUL 2009 will be held in the 4,000 Sq. metre No 3 hall. The latest technological advances and techniques are at this fair! The most pressing problems for the Turkish livestock sector are climate change and the associated global drought along with animal disease, problems with insufficient and low yield cattle breeding stock, rising feed and energy costs, falling wholesale prices for animal products and a shortage of qualified workers. All of which have been a setback to the development of this sector. It is essential that there is a move from traditional production methods to the international accepted norms by increased investment in new technology and techniques so that the sector can become export orientated. But when the whole livestock sector is put under the microscope it is clear there is still much more investment in different technologies to be made in order to respond to the consumers’ desire for healthier and more hygienic production methods and products. The fair has been organised around the concept of ‘Product security from the farm to the dining table’ so that every stage of the production and distribution chain is on show at this fair. Seminar programmes that will set the agenda! During the duration of ANIMALIA ISTANBUL 2009 there will be an exciting programme of activities: Demonstrations of the latest techniques and technologies by the foremost companies from the livestock sector, panels and forums where the most influential names in the sector will discuss and help to provide solutions for the sector’s issues. Marketing and sales of ANIMALIA ISTANBUL 2009 began on 1st September 2008! Publicity for this exciting event commenced with the distribution of publicity material to all the domestic and overseas participants on HKF’s data base along with professional visitors to previous fairs. Despite the long national holiday in Turkey that coincided with the launch, by 7th of September, 660 Sq. Metres of ANIMALIA ISTANBUL 2009 have been reserved while 230 Sq. Metres have been sold. Mr. Çakıcı went on to say that the goal had always to form a bond with the industry and, not just for Turkey but for neighbouring countries too, to grow and to become the most important Cattle and allied technologies trade fair in the region. This goal could have never been reached with the support of the Animalia consultancy committee as well as the invaluable input of participants, visitors and members of trade press. Mr. Çakıcı finished by thanking the aforementioned for their contributions. In his opening speech, MP for Aydın and spokesman for the Agriculture Commission of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs Mr. Ahmet Ertürk said that Animalia was the only fair dedicated to the specific needs of the industry and one that it had successfully engaged with the public too. He went on to say that the fair was an important talking shop for farmers and producers alike, an opportunity to air their concerns and opinions. He added that the Agriculture Commission of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs listened and paid attention and worked to finding solutions to these concerns. He went on by saying that they were committed to helping the industry develop and that this was a platform that all should and could take advantage of. He concluded by saying that he held a debt of gratitude for HKF Trade Fairs for organising the event and creating such a unique opportunity.
