The Physical Therapist Asistant Program reached a milestone of a 100 percent pass-rate for the National Board Exam – three years in a row! The accrediting body, CAPTE (Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education), evaluates the program on the three-year passrate. There are more than 289 programs in the United States, and Darton’s program is sitting, along with 28 others, at the top. Kerri Johnson directs the program, and Sarah Brinson is the Coordinator of Clinical Education. Heath Martin is a parttime instructor for the program. The Darton College Music Department is proud to announce that Sherry C. Mann, first-year voice major, won the second place award in Division 15 of the Student Auditions sponsored by the Georgia Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). Mari D. Hudson sang in Division 7 and Jasmin Johnson participated in Division 5 of this annual event held this year at Kennesaw State University. According to Keith H. Walker, Assistant Professor of Vocal Music, the three Darton students were among 412 high school, college, and adult voice students competing in the 2009 event. Voice students must be currently studying voice either privately or at the college level with a voice teacher who is a member in good standing of the organization.
Drew Austin Johnson has been named Darton College’s Academic Recognition Student for 2009. Each college in the University System of Georgia annually selects one student to honor for their academic achievements. Mr. Johnson, 20, of Moultrie, is the son of Melvin and Carol Lynn Johnson. He is a biology major who has taken all of his Darton courses either online or as hybrid courses (online courses that require part of the class to be taken on campus). He plans to graduate by either next fall or Spring 2010. He is considering eventually attending medical school or
