Unplug printer and let cool down, at least 20 minutes 2. Back of the printer; press the two release buttons on the back DIMM cover. Then swing this back cover outward to a slight angle away from the printer 3. Open toner cartridge door and press the release button located on the right hand side. Grasp the front and rear of the DIMM cover and swing it out slightly at the back, away from the printer. 4. Then slide the DIMM cover towards the front of the printer to release it from the printer frame. 5. Open rear output bin 6. Pull a little hard and the back gate will drop even farther until it is parallel with the work surface. 7. Remove the two screws from the rear cover 8. Pull the bottom-left corner of the rear cover outward. With both hands, one on each side of the rear cover, gently tug down on the rear cover and pull it away from the back of the printer to remove it. 9. Unplug the two connectors 10. Remove the four screws 11. Pull the fuser out 12. Install the new fuser. Replace the four screws and re-plug in both connectors. Reinstall the back gate and the DIMM cover. Transfer Roller Replacement 1. Open top cover and remove toner cartridge. 2. Squeeze the tabs on the black transfer roller bushing and life the transfer roller shaft up and away to the left. 3. When putting in the replacement transfer roller be careful not touch the black roller surface. Oils from your skin can affect print quality. 4. Insert the right end of the transfer roller first, securing the metal tip into its black retaining clip MP Tray Pickup Roller 1. Open the toner cartridge door, use a pair of needle-nose pliers to pinch the head of the lever that supports the toner door. Pinch the head of the lever and push it through the hole. 2. Remove the four screws holding the top cover in place. 3. Use a flat blade screwdriver to release the latch on the left side of the toner door. Then life the top cover straight up and away from the printer 4. Now remove the left cover, life the cover simultaneously up and outward 5. Unhook the two springs supporting Tray 1 from the black printer frame. Then pry the pivot arms loose from Tray 1 6. Slide the bottom of Tray 1 to the left to remove it. 7. Then rotate the pivot arms upwards and remove the top of Tray 1 8. Press and hold the release tab on the outer edge of the left idler roller and begin sliding the idler roller away to the left. If the idler rollers catches on the separation pad beneath it, hold the separation pad down with one hand and slide the idler roller with the other hand. 9. Press and hold the release tab on the out edge of the right idler roller and slide this one to the right. Again hold down the separation pad if necessary. 10. Strongly pinch the release tab on the right side of the pickup roller. You will have to use some force as you pinch the release tab upwards, and then slide the roller to the right. 11. Rotate the pickup roller on its shaft, rotating it towards you to free the roller. 12. Lift the pickup roller off its metal shaft 13. Before you install the new pickup roller, the separation pad much be removed and replaced. MP Tray Separation Pad 1. Before you install the new pickup roller, the separation pad which sits underneath it must be removed and replaced. 2. Squeeze both of the pad’s arms inward and free the pad from its black base. Insert the new separation pad onto the base; be sure to line up the bump on the bottom of the new separation pad with the spring on the black base. Squeeze the pad’s arms and lock the arms onto the base. 3. Reinstall the entire separation pad assembly and screw it down in place. 4. Now you can replace the pickup roller. Slide the roller to the left towards its white coupling. Rotate the roller slightly as you slide the roller to the left; keep rotating it and sliding it left until it clicks in place with the coupling. 5. Next hold the separation pad down with one finger and slide both idler rollers towards the pickup roller and lock them in place. Tray 2 Pickup Roller Replacement 1. Remove tray 2 and rest printer on back cover 2. Use a flat blade screwdriver to gently pry and release the white plastic lever’s tab on the left side of the tray 2 pickup roller, rotate the white plastic lever outwards and remove the lever 3. Slide pickup roller toward the left side of printer. Use a flat blade screw driver to pry the tab on the lever on the right side of the pickup roller. Rotate the lever outward and then slide the lever towards the right side of printer. Sliding this lever releases the pickup roller shaft. 4. Lift the pickup roller out of the printer 5. Remove the two white rollers for the old pickup roller and place the two white rollers on the ends of the new pickup roller. 6. Replace the pickup roller in its carriage and insert left end first, then lower the right end down 7. Slide the slotted end of the pickup roller through the white lever. Rotate the roller as you slide it to the right so that the gray drive shaft connects to the slotted end of the pickup roller. The lever on the left side will not fit properly unless the gray drive shaft is properly connected to the white pickup roller. 8. Replace the left lever, and then rotate both levers downwards until they lock in place. Tray 2 Separation Pad 1. Press the metal lift plate down until it locks in place. 2. Flip Tray 2 over and locate the two tabs holding the separation pad in place 3. Use a flathead screwdriver to gently pry the tabs loose 4. Flip Tray 2 back over to its top side, and gently pry the front tabs of the separation pad loose. 5. Gently pull the pad up and away. If it doesn’t slide upwards easily, check each of the four tabs again to make sure they are free 6. Reuse this spring on the new separation pad. Place it securely on the bump of the new separation pad. 7. Line up the spring on the separation pad with the spring pedestal and line up the plastic tabs on the pad with the metal plate. Slide the tabs down over the metal plate. The restarting tabs will click and hold the separation pad in place.
