Consultant use of District 3 FTP site material
Document Sample

District 3 FTP Site
Consultants are required to use District 3 FTP site materials when preparing plans for
District 3. This material is for applicable to general roadway improvement plans, not
structure plans. Time to review the FTP site will be negotiated.
Items available on the FTP site include…
-District 3 Cover Sheet
-District 3 CADD Standard Details
-District 3 General Notes
-District 3 Special Provisions
1 Cover sheet--Use the cover sheet (Coversheet.dgn) found in the District 3 CADD
Standard Details on the FTP site to prepare your cover sheet. Please show the
index of sheets on the cover sheet.
2 General Notes-- For roadway improvements, use notes exclusively from our FTP
site. Custom notes may be required at times for unique situations.
3 Special Provisions--For roadway improvements, use the special provisions
exclusively from our FTP site. Custom special provision may be required at
times for unique situations.
4 Plan Details-- For roadway improvements, use the plan details exclusively from
our FTP site. Custom details may be required at times for unique situations.
In addition, we strongly recommend downloading a copy of the CURRENT pay item
book from the IDOT web site. Cutting and pasting the line items into a summary of
quantities eliminates spelling and translation errors, in addition to making our review
easier and faster.
FTP Site Access
All the District 3 CADD Standards, Special Provisions, and General Notes are now on the
District ftp site and can be down loaded. These should be down loaded when needed for a
project and not stored on your system for the next project. By doing this, the most up to
date Details and Specials will be used.
The site address is, “ ftp://ftp.dot.il.gov/private/d3 “. District 3 uses the Private
folder not the public folder. A username of d3guest and password of d3temp will need to
be used the first time. The District 3 CADD Standard Details, District 3 Special
Provisions, and District 3 General Notes are in this folder.
If you need to transfer folders or files use the District 3 Transfers folder. Name the
folder on your desktop before you move it to the Transfers folder. Use the Transfers
folder to transfer large files. State e-mail has a size limit of 2Mb. Notify the CAD
supervisor when anything you place on the ftp site is no longer needed so it can be deleted.
