REAL ESTATE EXCHANGE MEMBERSHIP GUIDELINES 1. Candidates for Regular membership must have been actively engaged in the real estate industry for at least four years. Candidates for Associate membership must have been actively engaged in the real estate industry for at least one year. Candidates must have attended a minimum of three functions sponsored by the Exchange prior to application for membership. Two members in good standing must sponsor each candidate. Each member must serve on at least one committee. The maximum number of Regular members in each category is 18% of the total membership, not including Associate members. The maximum number of Associate members is not to exceed 20% of the total membership. If a membership category is filled, the applicant may be placed on a waiting list. His or her application will be reviewed when an opening in that category occurs. Memberships are not transferable. The membership term follows the calendar year (January 1 through December 31). If a member fails to attend at least three meetings in a fiscal year or fails otherwise to participate in the organization in a meaningful manner, the Membership Committee may choose to take steps to terminate that person's membership following notice and a time to correct the lack of participation. In such event, readmission would require a new application.
