But not an eye will close. Too much excitement in the air, To let you even doze. So make a magic potion To help you fall asleep: Then Santa and his helpers Can down the chimney creep. Pour this cocoa in a mug, And with hot water mix: Then drop in the magic kiss, And stir with the candy stick! Add a few marshmallows, And sip it slowly down. Crawl into bed and snuggle inThe 'magic sleep' will come! Note: Type this poem on a piece of paper. Attach it to a Ziploc bag that contains an envelope of hot cocoa mix, a candy cane, a chocolate Hershey's kiss, and a handful of mini marshmallows. It also makes a good idea for something different as a treat for kindergartners (either from a room mother at a party or as a gift from the teacher). Santa’s Magic Key Santa’s Key 1 Source: Kathryn, UKScrappers forum, November 2003 Santa's Magic Key (get an old key and paint it gold, add some gems and attach the poem to it) This key is very special, you see, It won't work for you or me. Hang it just outside your door, Go to bed and worry no more. Close your eyes and close them tight, 'Cause Santa Claus is coming tonight. -2- Amalgamated by Michelle @ Scrapability (www.scrapability.squarespace.com) All Sources Credited (alternate version) Dear Santa, We don't have a chimney for you to come in through And if you miss our house I don't know what I'll do. Mom says you work magic and can use just any old key If we just hang it outside in a place you're sure to see. So I'm placing this old key right beside our door Say my prayer and jump in bed and I won't worry anymore. Here's the scoopAll you get for Christmas is Snowman poop! (alternate version) Santa's made his list and he's checked it twice. He isn't too happy 'cause you haven't been nice. Coal is too expensive so here's the scoop: He's filling your stocking with snowman poop!! -4- Amalgamated by Michelle @ Scrapability (www.scrapability.squarespace.com) All Sources Credited Source: http://pages.prodigy.net/area512/snowmanpoop.html This is the print template for the tag. However, please note the following note also: Note: If you live in an area where lots of non-magical creatures like pets or wild animals might get to the reindeer food and eat it, leave out the glitter. Glitter might hurt real animal stomachs and Santa's reindeer will still enjoy the feast without glitter. A good substitute for the glitter would be sprinkles used to decorate cakes and cupcakes. Reindeer Food 1 Source: Kathryn, UKScrappers forum, November 2003 Poem 1: Tis the night before Christmas and since every year, You feed Santa Claus, Now feed his reindeer! Poem 2: Whilst Santa fills his sleigh with toys For all the good little girls and boys The magic food contained inside Will lead the reindeer on their wintry ride Sprinkle this food outside your door Rudolph this he’ll just adore The glitter will light their way With gifts for you on Christmas Day Instructions: 1. Wait until Christmas Eve. 2. Open bag and sprinkle Reindeer Food on the lawn. 3. Hop into bed! 4. Shhhhh!!! Listen for Santa! 5. Close your eyes tight! Watch the sugarplums dance! Contents: Enough Reindeer food for eight tiny reindeer! (mix glitter with oats or oatmeal to make the magic reindeer food) -9- Amalgamated by Michelle @ Scrapability (www.scrapability.squarespace.com) All Sources Credited Source: SleepyDragon, UKScrappers Forums, November 2004. Sally sells these for £1 a bag, for a charity. Poem: On Christmas Eve when all is still, if on the lawn these oats you spill…This magic glitter will shine so bright, that Rudolf will see it through the night. Straight to your house, Santa’s sleigh he’ll steer, sniffing this snack for the hungry reindeer. Materials: Bags - ziplock type Glitter - from the Works (£1.50 a big pot) The coarser the glitter the better - the ones I used are more like flakes and are therefore a lot cheaper than normal glitter. Oats - Tescos!! This is a variation of the above. This makes a great gift to hand out to the kids on Christmas Eve! In a small ziploc bag or baby food container, mix: ¼ cup oatmeal ¼ cup sugar sprinkle of red or green sugar crystals (for cake decorating) • Optional: You can cut a circle of cloth or felt a bit larger than the lid. Place over the lid nd tie a ribbon around it to decorate. We actually used Kleenex cut in a circle and tied on with wool for the top of our lid and it turned out really nice. (the amounts don’t have to be exact) If you use a baby food jar, you can layer the ingredients for a "sand art" look like we did in the photo. Poem to go with: Sprinkle on the lawn at night The moon will make it sparkle bright As Santa's reindeer fly and roam This will guide them to your home. • • • Reindeer Food 3 - 11 - Amalgamated by Michelle @ Scrapability (www.scrapability.squarespace.com) All Sources Credited This website also supplied the following printouts for the tag on this jar: Colour Template - 12 - Amalgamated by Michelle @ Scrapability (www.scrapability.squarespace.com) All Sources Credited Black and White Template: - 13 - Amalgamated by Michelle @ Scrapability (www.scrapability.squarespace.com) All Sources Credited Reindeer Food 4 Source : Rudy’s Reindeer Food Ingredients: 1/2 cup granola 5 chocolate chips 10 peanuts 15 M&M's 20 raisins Directions: Measure 1/2 cup granola. Reindeer Lunch Bag with Recipe Source : http://www.homeschoolzone.com/craft/ripplereindeer.htm • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • 1/3 cup butter Saucepan 1/2 cup of brown sugar 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda Spoon or spatula 1 1 /2 cups of oatmeal Greased 8-inch square pan Knife paper towels pencil 12 x 18 inch brown craft foam Scissors Four brown paper lunch bags Glue gun Four 1 1/2- inch red pom-poms Eight 20 mm moving eyes - 17 - Amalgamated by Michelle @ Scrapability (www.scrapability.squarespace.com) All Sources Credited 1. Melt the butter in the saucepan over low heat. 2. Turn the heat to medium-high and add the brown sugar and baking 3. When the mixture is foamy, stir in the oatmeal. 4. Dump the oatmeal mixture into the greased pan and bake at 350 soda. Mix well. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12. degrees for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. While hot, cut the oatmeal into four bars. Wait about 10 minutes, then take out each bar out of the pan and lay it on a paper towel to absorb any extra oil. Don't worry if it crumbles- the reindeer like it that way. Trace eight reindeer antlers (click here to see them), pattern is on this page, onto the brown craft foam and cut out. Put a bar of the oatmeal mixture into each lunch bag. Fold the top right and left corners of each lunch bag down to form a point at the top of the bag. Then fold that section down and glue a pom-pom (reindeer nose) at the point, which is now facing down. Glue two moving eyes above each nose. Glue two antlers onto the top of each bag so they're sticking up. Eat the reindeer oatmeal on Christmas Eve, but save some to sprinkle on your lawn for Rudolph and his friends! Variation: • • Purchase store-bought crunchy oatmeal granola bars and use them instead of making the granola recipe. Note: Chances are animals will eat the food you sprinkle outside, but the oatmeal granola won't hurt them. Antler – print two, of course. - 18 - Amalgamated by Michelle @ Scrapability (www.scrapability.squarespace.com) All Sources Credited Christmas Kitchen Helper Source: http://www.geocities.com/heartfeltholidays/christmaskitchenhelper.html This special little lady has come along your way, to help you have a very, Merry Christmas Day!
