Business Source Premier: provides nearly 3,600 full text scholarly publications, including nearly 1,050 peer-reviewed journals. In addition to the full text, this database provides indexing and abstracts nearly 4,400 journals. This database offers information in nearly every area of business including management, economics, finance, accounting, international business, and more.
What do I get from this Database?
Full text articles: Yes. (There are full text articles that you can print out) Abstracts: Yes. (An abstract is a summary of the important points of a text) Citations: Yes. (A citation is the source of the information)
How do I search this database?
Go to the Library’s Web page and select databases and Indexes. Select on-campus or off-campus. From the list of databases, click the Business Source Premier link Type in the name of the search in the FIND box and click search. Place a check mark next to Fill-text. This will produce a list of articles that you can print out.
If you get no results, check your spelling (Example: Stokk Market or Stock Market?) Operators are used to help refine your search. The common operators are: AND, OR, and NOT. Operators must be typed in capital letters. Use the AND operator in the FIND box to help narrow your search. (Example: type: Stock Market AND Microsoft in the FIND box) Use the OR operator to broaden your search. (Example: type Stock Market OR NASDAQ in the FIND box). Use the NOT operator filter out what you do not want. (Example: type: Stock Market AND Microsoft NOT Dividend in the Find box). This will produce results on articles with the words Stock Market and Microsoft but do not have the word Dividend.

My instructor wants me to use sources that are no more than 2 years old. I did a search for Stock Market AND Microsoft NOT Dividends and got 3180 articles. Now what do I do? Go back to the search screen and put a date in the date field.
How do I print an HTML Full Text article?
For HTML Full Text documents, at the top of the screen are a group of hypertext links: Print, Email, and Save.
Clicking the Print link at the top of the article will reformat the article into a printable version. o A new screen appears. Be sure HTML Full Text (when available) is checked. o You can receive a suggested citation for the article in MLA, ALA or Chicago/Turabian style by selecting the Industry Citation Format drop-down box and choosing a citation format. (Be advised that the suggested citation may not be accurate. Compare it to the BCCC Library’s citation handouts).

How do I e-mail an HTML Full Text article?
By clicking the E-mail link at the top of the article, a new screen will appear. o Type in your email address. o Type something in the Subject box. o Be sure that HTML Full Text (when available) is checked. o You can receive a suggested citation for the article in MLA, ALA or Chicago/Turabian style by selecting the Industry Citation Format drop-down box and choosing a citation format. Save - If you wish to save your work to disk, click the save button (the button looks like a floppy disk Email - To email the article, click the email link on the top right. You will be asked to type in your email address, a title in the subject box, and then you will need to click the send button. (If you do not see this link at the top of the page, this feature is not available to you).

Does this database give the citation for my references page? Yes, a suggested citation is available whenever you print, save or download an HTML Full Text document. This feature is not available when you access PDF or Linked Full Text documents. The citation given can be in MLA, ALA, or Chicago/Turabian style. Be advised that the suggested citation may not be accurate in terms of format. Please compare the database’s suggested format to the BCCC library’s citation guides. In the example below, the user clicked the Print link to print out the document. A new window appears. I am working at home and I click on the off campus link for the database and then it asks for my patron ID. How do I get a patron ID? The patron ID is the number on you library card below the bar code. Type it in without any space
or dashes.

I am working from home and I saved some articles on my PC. I later went to open them and my computer asks me what program to use to open the file. Which program do I choose? These articles are in PDF format. You will need the Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print the
articles from your home pc. Go to http://www.adobe.com and download and install the Adobe Acrobat Reader. Don’t worry; the Adobe Acrobat Reader is free. Once installed on your computer, you can open and print your articles from home.
