Hardware setup Laptop with battery life to last through duration of class, active matrix screen if don't use projector, PCMCIA port with Ethernet card adapter, "dongle" if card needs it. Projector -- what to keep in mind (size, lumens, noise, projecting surface) or External keyboard and mouse with cord as long as table B-jack, 15-20' cable Microsoft Word useful functions: Outline/document map OLE Hyperlinked documents Working with toolbars Working with comments Working with colors Working with WordArt
Internet technologies and applications to have available Browser that can support Java (to minimize likelihood of crashes when surfing) FTP program (such as ws_ftp or fetch) Virus checker (because share files with students, download off Internet) Site sharing application -- e.g., clip2.com or backflip.com Shared site commenting application -- e.g., ThirdVoice.com Project management application -- e.g., iteamwork.com Shared files application -- e.g., idrive.com, xdrive.com Depending on technological sophistication: Videoconferencing with other classes or with experts Audioconferencing "Controlled" chats.
