Using the Secure Skills Sheets to Identify and Instruct Flexible Groups 1. The Secure Skills sheets for each grade level are based on the identified secure skills for each unit. 2. Daytime Teachers should record the names of the students not showing proficiency with the skill listed in each Secure Skill box as they are teaching the unit. This information should be shared with the Afterschool Teacher. 3. This information is what Afterschool Teachers use to determine which students should be grouped together in the afterschool program, giving them more time to practice on this skill they are expected to know. 4. Afterschool Teachers will provide learning experiences, mainly Everyday Math Games, so students can learn skills they don’t know. 5. As students participate in flexible group activities, and then demonstrate proficiency in that skill, Afterschool Teachers should share that information with the Daytime Teacher. 6. Flexible groups should continue to be offered until every student has mastered all Secure Skills from the Everyday Math curriculum and Minnesota Standards.
