Using Carstens® Wide-Trak™ Label Sheets
Print your own custom labels on Carstens® Wide-Trak™ Label Sheets. Use one of Carstens® ready-to-print templates or design your own labels using Microsoft® Word. To use one of Carstens® ready-to-print templates follow the instructions in the “HOW TO USE CARSTENS® READY-TO-PRINT WIDE-TRACK™ LABEL SHEET TEMPLATES” section below. You can create your own custom labels using the Microsoft® Word Envelopes and Labels Tool. To do so, just follow the instructions in the “HOW TO PRINT A SHEET OF CARSTENS® LABELS USING THE MICROSOFT® WORD ENVELOPES AND LABELS TOOL” section below. You can create your own custom labels using the blank label template for Carstens® Wide-Trak™ Label Sheets. To do so, just follow the instructions in the “HOW TO USE THE BLANK CARSTENS® WIDE-TRAK™ LABEL SHEET TEMPLATE” section.
HOW TO USE CARSTENS® READYTO-PRINT WIDE-TRAK™ LABEL SHEET TEMPLATES 1. Browse to http://carstens.com/labeltemplates 2. Click on the image of the label you want to print. 3. When Microsoft® Word opens the document follow your printer’s instructions to insert a Carstens® Wide-Trak™ Label Sheet to print. HOW TO PRINT A SHEET OF CARSTENS® LABELS USING THE MICROSOFT® WORD ENVELOPES AND LABELS TOOL 1. Select Tools>Letters and Mailings>Envelopes and Labels… or Tools>Envelopes and Labels… 2. Click on the Labels tab. 3. Click on the Options button. 4. In the Printer Information section click on the Laser and Ink Jet radio button. 5. In the Label Information section, from the Label Products label name, select Other/Custom. 6. In the Label Information section, from the Product Number pulldown list, select Carstens WideTrak. If Carstens Wide-Trak is not on the list, see below. 7. Click on the OK button.
HOW TO USE THE BLANK CARSTENS® WIDE-TRAK™ LABEL SHEET TEMPLATE 1. Browse to http://carstens.com/labeltemplates 2. Click on the image of the blank label. 3. Click inside the first label position. 4. Create the first label. 5. To print a full page of the same label, select the entire cell and copy it to all the other cells in the template. 6. To print different labels on the same page, click inside another label and create the label. Repeat this step until you are finished. Remember you can also copy individual labels to other positions on the sheet. 7. Follow your printer’s instructions on how to insert a Carstens® WideTrak™ Label Sheet to print.
HOW TO ADD CARSTENS® WIDETRAK™ LABEL SHEET PRODUCT OPTION TO MICROSOFT® WORD 1. Browse to http://carstens.com/labeltemplates 2. Click on “Install Carstens® Label Options for Microsoft® WORD”. 3. If you get a caution box with the message that “The Macros in this project are disabled…” change the macro security level by following the instructions in the “HOW TO CHANGE MICROSOFT® WORD MACRO SECURITY LEVEL” section. 4. If you prefer to add the Carstens® Wide-Trak™ Label Sheet Product Option manually, follow the instructions in the “HOW TO MANUALLY ADD CARSTENS® WIDETRAK™ LABEL SHEET PRODUCT OPTION TO Microsoft® WORD” section. HOW TO CHANGE THE MACRO SECURITY LEVEL FOR MICROSOFT® WORD 2002, XP, 2003 1. Select Tools>Options… 2. Click on the Security tab. 3. Click on the Macro Security… button. 4. Click on the Security Level tab. 5. Select the Medium or Low option. HOW TO CHANGE THE MACRO SECURITY LEVEL FOR MICROSOFT® WORD 2000 1. Select Tools>Macro 2. Click on Security… 3. Select the Medium or Low option.
HOW TO MANUALLY ADD THE CARSTENS® WIDE-TRAK™ LABEL SHEET PRODUCT OPTION TO MICROSOFT® WORD IF YOU DO NOT FIND “Carstens WideTrak” in the Product Number pulldown list: 1. Click on the New Label… button. 2. Fill in the text boxes as follows: a. Label name: Carstens WideTrak b. Top margin: 0.8125” c. Side margin: 0.0625” d. Vertical pitch: 1.375” e. Horizontal pitch: 5.5” f. Label height: 1.375” g. Label width: 5.375” h. Number across: 2 i. Number down: 5 3. From the Page Size pull-down list, select Letter Landscape (11 x 8 ½ in). 4. Click on the OK button. 5. In the Label Information section, from the Product Number pulldown list, select Carstens WideTrak.
PRINTING TIPS 1. Print a test page on a blank sheet of paper. 2. Hold the printed test page behind the Carstens® label sheet to check the alignment. 3. If adjustments are necessary, make them. 4. When the alignment is correct, print labels onto the Carstens® label sheet.
