Using Carstens® Blank ID Card Sheets
Print your own custom cards on Carstens® Blank ID Card Sheets. Use one of Carstens® ready-to-print templates or design your own cards using Microsoft® Word. To use one of Carstens® ready-to-print templates follow the instructions in the “HOW TO USE CARSTENS® READY-TO-PRINT BLANK ID CARD SHEET TEMPLATES” section below. You can create your own custom cards using the Microsoft® Word Envelopes and Cards Tool. To do so, just follow the instructions in the “HOW TO PRINT A SHEET OF CARSTENS® CARDS USING THE MICROSOFT® WORD ENVELOPES AND LABELS TOOL” section below. You can create your own custom cards using the blank card template for Carstens® Blank ID Card Sheets. To do so, just follow the instructions in the “HOW TO USE THE CARSTENS® BLANK ID CARD SHEET TEMPLATE” section.
HOW TO USE CARSTENS® READYTO-PRINT BLANK ID CARD SHEET TEMPLATES 1. Browse to http://carstens.com/cardtemplates 2. Click on the image of the card you want to print. 3. When Microsoft® Word opens the document follow your printer’s instructions to insert a Carstens® Blank ID Card Sheet to print. HOW TO PRINT A SHEET OF CARSTENS® CARDS USING THE MICROSOFT® WORD ENVELOPES AND LABELS TOOL 1. Select Tools>Letters and Mailings>Envelopes and Labels… or Tools>Envelopes and Labels… 2. Click on the Labels tab. 3. Click on the Options button. 4. In the Printer Information section click on the Laser and Ink Jet radio button. 5. In the Label Information section, from the Label Products card name, select Other/Custom. 6. In the Label Information section, from the Product Number pulldown list, select Carstens Blank ID Card Sheets. If Carstens Blank ID Card Sheets is not on the list, see below. 7. Click on the OK button.
HOW TO USE THE CARSTENS® BLANK ID CARD SHEET TEMPLATE 1. Browse to http://carstens.com/cardtemplates 2. Click on the image of the blank card. 3. Click inside the first card position. 4. Create the first card. 5. To print a full page of the same card, select the entire cell and copy it to all the other cells in the template. 6. To print different cards on the same page, click inside another card and create the card. Repeat this step until you are finished. Remember you can also copy individual cards to other positions on the sheet. 7. Follow your printer’s instructions on how to insert a Carstens® Blank ID Card Sheet to print.
HOW TO ADD CARSTENS® BLANK ID CARD SHEET PRODUCT OPTION TO MICROSOFT® WORD 1. Browse to http://carstens.com/cardtemplates 2. Click on “Install Carstens® Blank ID Card Sheet Options for Microsoft® WORD”. 3. If you get a caution box with the message that “The Macros in this project are disabled…” change the macro security level by following the instructions in the “HOW TO CHANGE MICROSOFT® WORD MACRO SECURITY LEVEL” section. 4. If you prefer to add the Carstens® Blank ID Card Sheet Product Option manually, follow the instructions in the “HOW TO MANUALLY ADD CARSTENS® BLANK ID CARD SHEET PRODUCT OPTION TO Microsoft® WORD” section. HOW TO CHANGE THE MACRO SECURITY LEVEL FOR MICROSOFT® WORD 2002, XP, 2003 1. Select Tools>Options… 2. Click on the Security tab. 3. Click on the Macro Security… button. 4. Click on the Security Level tab. 5. Select the Medium or Low option. HOW TO CHANGE THE MACRO SECURITY LEVEL FOR MICROSOFT® WORD 2000 1. Select Tools>Macro 2. Click on Security… 3. Select the Medium or Low option.
HOW TO MANUALLY ADD THE CARSTENS® BLANK ID CARD SHEET PRODUCT OPTION TO MICROSOFT® WORD IF YOU DO NOT FIND “Carstens ID Card” in the Product Number pulldown list: 1. Click on the New Card… button. 2. Fill in the text boxes as follows: a. Card name: Carstens ID Card b. Top margin: 0. 25” c. Side margin: 0. 25” d. Vertical pitch: 1” e. Horizontal pitch: 5.25” f. Card height: 1” g. Card width: 5.25” h. Number across: 2 i. Number down: 8 3. From the Page Size pull-down list, select Letter Landscape (11 x 8 ½ in). 4. Click on the OK button. 5. In the Card Information section, from the Product Number pulldown list, select Carstens Blank ID Label Sheets.
PRINTING TIPS 1. Print a test page on a blank sheet of paper. 2. Hold the printed test page behind the Carstens® card sheet to check the alignment. 3. If adjustments are necessary, make them. 4. When the alignment is correct, print cards onto the Carstens® card sheet.
